Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok for DIY For the price they are great, but if you are looking for something that will last for more than a few hours work, then i would recommend something of a bit higher quality. If they are for occasional use, or fabricators who are learning and starting out, then they are worth a punt. I used the straight cut ones the most, right up until the spring failed, then I went right back to using my 40+ year old snips.

Would these cut 5mm plastic or wood effect venitian blinds? How long are the blades?

MrsJellyB, These are not designed to be used on plastic or wood/laminate. We would suggest that the slats should be cut using a powered chop saw or bench saw. Thanks for using Screwfix Q&A.

What gauge metal can be cut

I am taking apart an old mattress and need some new snips, will these be suitable for cutting the springs which are about 1mm squared.

Would these cut roofing felt (shed felt)?

I need to re-felt an outbuilding. A knife may cut the felt prior to fixing but I shall need to cut around some irregular shapes once on the roof. Would these do the job or is there a better suggestion please?

Hello, The tin snips are not designed for roof felt material, so we cannot guarantee their performance (they've never been tested with this materiel so we have not information on whether they would work or not). A utility knife (like a Stanley knife etc) would be the tool we recommend for cutting roof felt. We don't sell them, but heavy duty membrane scissors might do the job. You may wish to check with a competent tradesperson for advice on suitable tools. Thank you for using Q&A. [DG]
