Can I use the bulb in an outdoor bulkhead light with a time switch?

All the bulbs I've used so far die within a couple of weeks, but I think it might be compatibility with the time switch.

What does it mean operate on electronic ballast only?

Does that only apply to dimmable? I want to use it as non-dimmable and want to know if it will work on my ballast but not sure what type of ballast it is
