Am I right to the think the standard length screw is too long for the box?
As this product is only 16mm deep it will obviously be limited to the screw length that it can accept. It is most common that light switches are the product category most used in conjunction with the 16mm back boxes. Due to this you will usually find that the light switches have a smaller length screw than other wiring accessory products (such as sockets, 20A/45A Switches) and this is definitely the case with our own Crabtree products.
Therefore to answer the question, yes, the standard length screw for a light switch should fit a 16mm box, however a standard screw for other products probably would not (or it would be very tight), the depth that the box is fitted back into the wall and if tiles are fitted would also be factors that would affect this.
