Adjustable lugs..?
The deeper version of this dry wall box has ‘adjustable lugs’. I assume the lugs are the yellow side bits that secure the box against the dry wall, but what is the reason for having an adjustable lug version, please?

Hello. The term “adjustable” is what we refer to with all of our dry lining boxes because of the nature of their fitting into dry partition walls. It does refer to the nylon lugs because of the flexibility, a great degree of movement can be had whilst securing to the board. In short, there are no differences between the 35mm depth dry lining boxes and the 47mm versions where fixing lugs are concerned. Thank you for your interest in our appleby brand.

what is the min thickness these will mount to?
I'm looking to mount these in 0.5mm thick steel wall panels in my shed walls. There's plenty of space behind the panels, so i'm not concerned about mounting depth. Can these be adjusted in any sensible way to clamp on thinner materials than the spec says?

Hello. This wouldn’t be possible. The minimum thickness of a wall needs to be 7mm. However, Appleby SB/LX are packing pieces for walls less than 6.35mm so can make it achievable. Using packing pieces can prove to be tricky but it’s the only way to make fitting possible. Thank you for your interest in our appleby brand.
