Acoustalay Foam Underlay 10m x 1m x 3mm (7362G)

10m² roll of 3mm high quality, fire retardant, cross-linked polyolefin foam underlay. Ideally suited to domestic applications and suitable for use with sub-floor embedded, and surface underfloor heating (operating temperature -50 to 100°C). Always read and follow the guidelines supplied with the underfloor heating system and/or floor to be fitted. Acoustalay should be used as an insulating/spot levelling layer between the floor to be laid and the sub-floor. If laid on a concrete sub-floor a separate vapour barrier should be used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great underlay This was like a dream to use - it lays down quite flat as solidly made and then can use a bit of masking tape to join with next row. I'd previously bought the cheaper Stikatak underlay for my living room which was good but I ended up buying this for my hall as the Stikatak was out of stock. This was better and worth the extra money and I would definitely buy this again if I laminate any other rooms in the house.

Is this the best option for upstairs (no insulation/soundproofing)

We're putting in laminate upstairs. The subfloor is timber (early 90s, no insulation). Looking for an underlay with: - good soundproofing capabilities - 3mm or less so the laminate boards can't come loose (sufficiently dense)

Acoustalay Foam Underlay (7362G), is suitable for this application, but you may wish to consider Acoustalay 300 Premium Underlay & Vapour Barrier (73764), as it offers a higher level of transmitted sound reduction, 22dB rather than 19dB. Each option is 3mm thick, but Acoustalay 300 is more compression resistant, so will tolerate a heavier loading while providing the joint protection you are looking for. Please note, Acoustalay should be laid on a clean flat sub-floor.

Vinyl flooring

Is this suitable to use under a small area of 3 - 5 mm vinyl flooring?

No, Acoustalay Foam Underlay 10m x 1m x 3mm (7362G) is not hard (compression resistant) enough for this application. For Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) click flooring Acoustalay Foam Underlay & Vapour Barrier 2mm (43968), can be suitable. Please follow the guidelines of the flooring manufacturer concerned.

Can you put it under floor tiles

Can this be laid on wooden floor underneath floor tiles

Acoustalay (7362G) is designed for us with laminate and engineered flooring. If you are installing LVT click tiles, Acoustalay (43968) may be suitable. The range is not designed for use with ceramic or carpet tiles.

Concrete kitchen floor

Hello, I have just pulled up our old asbestos floor tiles to have just a concrete floor in the kitchen. Can I put this down before the lino goes on? Thank you

No - Acoustalay 250 is designed for use with floated laminate and engineered flooring, if use with theses floor coverings, on a concrete subfloor a separate vapour barrier would also be needed. It is not intended for use with lino.
