Its steel blade makes it especially useful on metals and plastics and it is often used for cutting pipes and conduits as well as metal sheeting. The blade is set in a steel or aluminium frame and can usually be replaced when it wears out. Some models have an adjustable tension mechanism. A junior hacksaw is a smaller version, enabling a precise cut and neater finish.
