Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best thing since sliced bread! I was fitting a new bathroom and laying vynil flooring. Unfortunately the floor was uneven so needed to do something before laying. Could have got the sander out and generate enough dust to fill the house five times over or find an alternative approach. This Vitrex board was it. Very easy to cut and lay and provided a softer feal to the vynil when laid. The "softness" of the product soaks up all the little ups and downs and provided a flat surface to lay the vynil.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT FOR LUXURY VINYL TILE I bought this underlay as the title states it is for luxury click vinyl tiles. Came the next day. Easy to lay and seemed a good product. No instructions in the box (or so it seemed)! Vinyl laid on top and looked great, seemed ..... Until I walked on it! It is not dense enough for LVT and a light cupboard was immediately showing signs of sinking into the LVT! Tipped the box out and folded in the bottom was a sheet which states for wood and laminate. No mention Of LVT! Checked the density rating and it is NOT FOR LVT! Thankfully it was only a small room that I had to take up! Underlay returned to store and refunded no quibbles! I tried to explain the website description needs amending but I think it fell on deaf ears! Had this been a larger room and I was paying someone else to do it I would not have been happy at all. I should have read all the other reviews. THIS IS FOR WOOD AND LAMINATE NOT LVT!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not suitable for click LVT I bought this as it said it was suitable for click lock LVT tiles. I have 4.2mm tiles, quite thick but also slightly flexible so needed something more robust than the standard foams. It says it's suitable so that's what I expected. I went with 3mm over other 1.5mm and 2mm to absorb some floor irregularities from an overfoor heating system and where rooms had been joined. It's fine for under foot, better than the cheap foams for sure. But don't even think about putting any point pressure on it. After the entire floor was laid we moved a sofa in and I immediately noticed the floor had compressed resulting in a dent where the feet were which did not return to shape. The same happened with the fridge. I spent the weekend ripping up the sections I could access and adding 3mm MDF panels to support areas I knew feet will be, such as where the kitchen cabinets will go, also causing damage to some tiles so I've now also had to buy more tiles. I think this should say suitable for LVT only in low load scenarios. Basically our entire floor is compromised. I imagine it will need replacing very soon as it doesn't feel up to the job of resisting pressure like shoe heels long term.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but need to take care Using this under vinyl planks, so far so good, does 'exactly what it says on the tin'. Be gentle when unfolding, the joints separate very easily, I'm having too use carpet tape to keep them together where parted. The product 'snags' very easily (can tear with a fingernail) so don't leave exposed, I'm laying just ahead of the flooring to avoid this. Overall the compressive strength appears impressive, which is what I bought it for. I can't comment on reliability, as I have only just installed

Waterproof membrane

Do you need a waterproof membrane with this or not?
Asked by: DIY1010
Thank you for your question. This underlay already has a water resistant Integral membrane so another membrane is not required.

What is the best type of underlay to use for 12mm laminate, to be laid over wooden floorboards?

Asked by: Kathie
Thank you for your enquiry. The fan fold underlay boards are suitable for use with laminate flooring and over wooden floorboards. In terms of the "best" type of underlay, this is purely down to personal requirements, i.e., thermal/acoustic/ease of laying/cost and specification of substrate and flooring to gauge suitability for an individual project.

Can this underlay be used with Electric underfloor heating and click vinyl planks

Asked by: Coxy64
Thank you for your enquiry. Vitrex Fan Fold Underlay Board is suitable for use with electric underfloor heating and click vinyl planks. However, the thermal properties of the Underlay Board will reduce the effectiveness of the underfloor heating.

over concrete/ under solid wood?

Hi, can this be used to level imperfections to a concrete subfloor and have solid wooden block parquet flooring glued to it? the wood needs to be fixed to prevent too much movement and twisting in different temperatures. thanks Abia
Asked by: abia
Thank you for your enquiry and interest in Vitrex products. Our appologies for the late reply, you should not use this with glue, by using glue it can damage and melt the board. I hope this has helped to answer your question.
