Rated 5 out of 5 by from Space plugs These little orange plastics are a gem, saved so much time and effort than using those horrible brackets. Well worth the price and the drill bit is a lovely touch, wish i had more cabinets to install haha.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect solution! Wonderful to bridge the insulation & air gap behind my plasterboard and get a normal fixing into the masonry for heavy duty fixing. My best find this year!

Would these be suitable to hang kitchen wall units through insulation backed plasterboard which has been direct bonded to a wall? (62.5mm thick board/insulation plus dab)

Asked by: Cal2468
Hi Cal, Thanks for your question and an interesting point. Whilst people have successfully used us as a spacer to bridge across insulation voids they are not designed to be load bearing, they are only designed to take compression. Theoretically the cabinets would still be hanging on a screw that was itself hanging some 70mm odd out the wall and I've thought that was a tough ask tbh for kitchen wall cupboards.

What size screw

Whats size masonary screw is recommended for a 56mm void?
Asked by: Pwnhorde
Many thanks for getting in touch. The final decision would have to be yours. But as a rule of thumb, your red wall plug is 28mm, 18mm for the carcase and your 56mm for the void = 102mm total - should be ok with 100mmx5mm, if you think the substrate is a little weak and want a stronger fixing a 120mm would be super strong I'd have thought. Hope that helps and all the very best with your kitchen! Cliff Inventor and MD :)

Would you use 2 per unit like traditional brackets or one in the centre?

I am thinking, just the one is needed
Asked by: DS99
One of the beauties of Space-Plug !! ... just one in the middle will work fine ... replace 4 screws / 2 L Brackets with 1 Space-Plug and one screw... if you want to go off centre to find a wall stud or miss electrics no problem ... Recommend to put 2 in a 800mm wide or above ... hope that helps and we think you'll like how easy they are to use!! Many thanks for the enquiry :)

What screw size is needed

Asked by: Bmck
Hello ... apologies but didn't receive a notification of your question ... heads will roll !!! It's difficult to inform on the screw sixe as with the adjustability of space-plug and the depth of the item to be fixed the length of fixing varies ... for the regular size ... a common gap is 35mm , plus 18mm for the rear cross brace of the cabinet ... probably a 100mm x 5mm screw is fine ... 47mm in the wall bit overkill but 80mm probably a bit short... hope that's made it a bit clearer, sincere apologies for the delay and very much hope you found Space-Plug fast and easy ... all my very best ... Cliff :)
