Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sandtex masonry paint I painted a centuries old building, which had at some time had a coating of paint on the plaster coated parts,of the stone building, this was flaking and mould patched areas! This was all pressure washed then painted, two coats!this transformed the look of the old house,it's looking really good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value for an Excellent Pr I have just bought this to refresh the outside render on our house and chose it based on previous experience with the same product which I used 3 years ago. The original has lasted well and would still be good for another few years but I have been doing some repair work and think it best to give the entire walls a fresh coat to help blend everything in. It covers really well and I have every confidence that I will be pleased with the end result.Ordered on-line and was ready to pick up at our local Screwfix almost immediately. Great service as always.

Are Sandtex masonry paints water based paints?

I ask as I have had tanking carried out to my garage which is sunk below ground to the rear. I was going to paint the brickwork but it says to use water based paints. Thank you Martin
Asked by: Martyboy92
Good afternoon and thank you for your e-mail Before we can make any recommendation We will require more information on the tanking system used, has the tanking system been overcoated with a render system such as a sanded /cement render etc

Would this 25L tin of paint be enough to paint a garage on 2 elevations?

I need to paint my garage and the gable and rear wall require a touch up. Would this tin be enough to cover this area. It is just a single car, brick and render garage. Thanks
Asked by: Martyboy92
Sandtex covers 120 square metres per 10 litre tub, two coats are recommended.

Do i need to seal walls first

I have just had my walls smooth rendered the builder used a waterproof mix, so will I have to seal walls first or can I paint the walls without sealing.
Asked by: Battlebus
If the walls are newly rendered then these will be have to left an minimum of 6 - 8weeks to fully dry out. You will then at this point need to test the wall for any chalking or flaking by rubbing your hands across the surfaces of the render and also splashing the wall with clean water. If the surface is overly porous and /or you get a chalky residue on your hands then you will need to use a stabilizing solution. before applying a masonry coating. The other problem you will have is the weather as after 6-8weeks you will almost be in November and it will be too cold /damp to be applying masonry coatings (other than specialist trade products such as Sandtex 365)
