Rated 4 out of 5 by from Irritating design flaw Firstly, like some previous reviewers, I ended up with 2 screws after assembly that I have no idea what they are for. Secondly this has a really good Briggs & Stratton engine. My lawnmower engineer advised me to avoid a Mountfield unless fitted with a Briggs and Stratton engine. Thirdly it is pleasingly light and maneuverable. Lastly, and my biggest issue with this, is the poor design and build of the lever that adjusts the mowing height. It relies on the flex of the metal to hold it at the desired mowing height and regularly fails to achieve this if you hit a bump or divots- or even go along a significant lateral slope. It then bounces out to the lowest setting which often gives the engine too much to do so it stalls. In conclusion, if you have a flat lawn this is a great little mower. If you have an irregular surface to mow then I suggest you look for an alternative.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Control! After much research I was quite excited to get a Mountfield Mower with a Briggs & Stratton Petrol Engine. However, the poor quality control made me return the mower & seek a refund. One of the holes for fixing the handle bar was not tapped correctly and so the bolt would not fully tighten. Tried swapping bolts, without any success. Also the cutting height adjustment lever would not stay in place, it kept slipping out of the hole - a problem faced by another customer at the store who had come to return his Mountfield mower too! The product is manufactured in Slovakia and these 2 problems pointed to poor quality control. Decided to return the mower & seek a refund. Bought a different brand from elsewhere.

I need the dimensions of the mower wheels

It is to pass through a small gate. My old mower just goes through the gate. (Mountfield laser omega 42cm SP)

What is the difference between a Mountfielf Sp185 45cms self propelled and a Mountfield HP 185 45cms self propelled

Asked by: snapcam

When assembling the mower self propelled 185 I have 2 X screws supplied that appear to have no use, nothing in instructions to indicate their use, could you advise what they are for I thought maybe grass collection box but nothing obvious?

Asked by: Tony595
I'm glad I am not alone!! I phoned service link and they advised that the two screws were for the previous type of grass collector, so are indeed superfluous to requirements.
