Most Qa's in context of business or public use. I would like something for home use in a small workshop. Can I use this as it is in this case?
Does such a service exist where I can bring the extinguisher to someone annually for inspection?
Thank you for your question. We would of course always recommend that this unit is installed and commissioned according to the requirements of BS 5036 Part 3. That said, the 6kg unit comes ready to use except for the hose and nozzle which is supplied but will require assembly. It may be the case that a smaller 1kg or 2kg powder unit would be sufficient in a small workshop - the 6kg unit does have a very substantial fire rating - some research into fire class testing would be worthwhile so you can see for yourself the size of fire that the unit can extinguish under test conditions. The point of performing an installation/commissioning service is to ensure that no damage, leakage or loss of pressure has occurred between the factory and place of final installation. I expect that there would be reputable fire extinguisher maintenance company local to you that would be willing to inspect and service your fire extinguisher at their premises or on site. I trust this helps.
