Say for example using 2400mm x 200mm x 100mm sleepers and laid brick wall effect about 600mm finished height (i.e. sleepers laid flat, 6 high)
Is a screw at each end of each sleeper sufficient?
Hello Jim128, thank you for your question. One screw per end (remembering to leave at least 50mm from the edges) would be sufficient to secure two sleepers together in the vertical plane however the answer largely depends on what is 'behind' the sleeper wall. If you are retaining waterlogged soil or maybe a pond for the whole 600mm depth, there will be far more lateral load on the structure than if you are retaining a simple low level half-filled planter. You may need to consider how you are to prevent the 'wall' from toppling from the weight applied on top of it or against it.
Remember- if in doubt, always check with a qualified structural engineer before beginning your project.
