Hello Logburner,
A higher wattage doesn't necessarily mean a better drill, just that it needs that power to turn the motor. A poor motor using lots of wattage will not be better than a lower wattage, better quality motor.
It will also depend on how hard the material the logs are made of are. Use a high wattage, good quality drill and you should be able to drill them.
