Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suitably impressed Having read many reviews and descriptions of electric chainsaws I chose this one because of the power, blade length and self-sharpening feature (yet to be used). Taking heed of the chain jumping issue many have experienced I paid close attention to it on my first use and found that it did start to sag on a couple of occasions so tightened it and never had it leave the bar once. It is mostly to be used for indoor logging so is ideal (no fumes). The cable is plenty long enough. I don't see the need for the blade brake as the chain stops immediately you release the power trigger which is an excellent feature. The chain itself does have a very aggressive profile compared with any previous saw I have used which makes light work of larger logs but causes the bar to wobble and jump on smaller stuff. Can't rate it for reliability yet Overall very impressed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great saw but... Just started using this saw to tackle brush and limbs from a major trim on some large trees. The guy who did the trim used his saw to clear some brushwood with no problems but if I try to use this saw the same way the chain jumps. Still in the first hour of use and I have been very careful about adjusting tension. The saw is no problem on heavier duty cuts but cutting smaller brushwood seems to cause the problem. I suspect the brush moves to much and the agressive profile of the chain catches and throws the chain off. Happy with it otherwise but I will stop cutting brush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premier league chainsaw This is a big chainsaw with a big motor so not surprisingly it is slightly more heavy than you may be used to. Put that one issue aside for a moment, and in a moment you are cutting through any size of wood/timber with great ease. It is speedy, accurate cutting and will manage any DIYer job. Filling the oil reservoir is easy and the window gives an accurate picture of oil level. I was also pleased to find a chainguard with the saw when I opened the box as this detail is not included in product information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more petrol ! I have a well-known make of petrol chain saw which is a pain to start (two stroke), takes 30 minutes to sharpen and performs poorly so I thought I would try electric (plenty of poke in 2400 watts). It is amazing - the built in sharpener is a dream - just press a lever for a few seconds, a few sparks and you know it is working, chain tensioning is a doddle, good size lubricant reservoir, cuts 12" thick seasoned wood like butter. So have bought a second one as a birthday present for my son. I am 71 so ease of use is rather key!

Extension leads

with only a 6M cable I will need to use an extension lead, what requirements will it need to meet? Rated at 15amp will a 13amp extension lead be underrated? Can excessive lead length cause a blown motor?
Asked by: Cadmanuk
Hi, we don't recommend an extension cable is used however if it's absolutely necessary, the shorter and heavier gauge cable (within reason), the better. A narrow cable over a long run will allow voltage drop in excess of what the motor can cope with and will cause overheating and starting failures in the motor resulting in damage so use as short a length as possible. hedge Cutting

I would appreciate any views as to the suitability of this product for hedge cutting- (I note good reviews for normal log cutting) Which would mean I would be using the chainsaw 'horizontally', i.e.on it's side!!
Asked by: Rsonista
Hi Rsonista, Chainsaws are specifically designed for cutting wood. If you need to cut hedges then a dedicated hedge cutter is recommended. The thin spindly growths often associated with hedge cutting is not conducive to the cutting mechanism/method of a chainsaw and can prove dangerous. We do not recommend hedge cutting with any chainsaw. Thanks!

Sawblade sharpening

Approximately how many times can you resharpen the blade before it has to be replaced, thanks.
Asked by: BearwoodBilly
Hi BearwoodBilly, you'll get approx 80 seconds of sharpening out of the life of the chain and stone so if you sharpen for 3 seconds at a time given all conditions favourable, you will get over 26 sharpens out of the chain. Kind regards, Oregon UK
