Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great tool/ Awful instructions Bought this and couldn't get the 1/4" collet or cutters in. No answer in the manual. Had to take it to a nearby Makita Dealer who spent 10 minutes battling to remove the 3/8" collet already in place. he thought it was damaged but actually it was just ridiculously tight. Seems strange to have the 3/8" collet already installed when machine comes provided with 1/4" cutters only. Also no mention of any of this in the manual. Had to travel 20 mile round trip and gave the guy at the dealership £5 as thanks- or this would have gone back to screwfix and i'd have lost a days wages. Screwfix good- Makita (unusually) bad. Actual tool once up and running was a pleasure to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Many good features A quality product. Nice features include the positive locking mechanism that holds the router down in the plunged position and the precise control of depths with the turret of 3 screws. Plenty of power for my work on solid oak. Two downsides: The stickiness of the plunge action. It needed a big push to start the movement. A bit better after some WD40 had been applied. The precision of the plunge action. The tool could wander laterally a bit as you plunged it. (Not helped by the first issue above.) Gave 3 stars for reliability as I don't know yet!

Is this the right product for fitting concealed hinges

I want to fit a lot of concealed hinges for a set of cupboards I am building. Is this router the right product for fitting the concealed hinges, or is it okay just to use a power drill with a hinge cutter bit?
Asked by: Will407
Personal choice but both are adequate to carry out the job you are doing.
