Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This is an excellent primer. It covers well and has a good flowing consistency so very easy to create a good base for top coats.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need to read the tin! Good stuff, but the tin explains it is a PRIMER not a primer undercoat, and needs 16 to 24 hours before recoating. A second coat of this paint dried quicker. I was a bit mean with first coat, but a second coat from the leftover gave good cover.

Would this work on hardwood plywood before a coat of eggshell paint on a workbench?

Asked by: RoryV
Hello RoryV You can use that, or even better the acrylic primer undercoat for a faster drying time. Thank you

Is this correct product

I have a very old painted wood slat and beam ceiling painted black and white I want to repaint it all white would this be the correct product to use? And will it make the job easier that no primer? Thanks
Asked by: Jimbobbananahammock
Hello Jimbobbananahammock This is tricky to advise on without further information. I am wondering if the beams are stained, and if so this may leach though any standard coating. If they are just painted with black gloss or emulsion you are fine to proceed, however i would use an acrylic primer undercoat, rater than the suggested Wood Primer. If the beams are stained, you would be better to prime these using a shellac based primer, that will hold back any potential leaching. Thank you

Additional undercoat required?

I understand that this is just a primer. Before realising this I've painted two coats onto bare wood and sanded to prep for gloss top coat(s). Can I paint gloss directly onto this primer or should I apply a dedicated undercoat next?
Asked by: MikeHP
Hello MikeHP Undercoats have a thicker film build, that does a few jobs, adhesion, film build and colour. Primers are good for adhesion, but lack the film build, which can be important to hide the wood grain, the colour is also important, you need to achieve the right colour prior to applying your gloss. If you are happy with film build and colour, then it will be fine. Thank you

Will this product seal knots ????

Asked by: CEVANS
Hello CEVANS No, this product will not help in regards to that - you have a few options: Knotting solution, Aluminium wood primer, or a shellac based primer. Thank you

Can this be used to prime over gloss without sanding first

Asked by: Josh2694
Hello Josh2694 We do not produce a product that does not come with a recommendation for good preparation. The product you mention is solely a wood primer - for bare timber. You could use an undercoat though. Thank you
