Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice piece of kit I've been wanting one of these for a while, thankfully the wife relented. I don't like heating an empty home nor do I like to come home early to a cold one. With this control of the heating/hot water is now quite literally in the palm of your hand (with the Nest app). It can get clever and all - you can configure it to know when you're not at home. It also learns your heating patterns (or you can schedule it like a traditional thermostat). You can also lock it so gone are the sneaky tweaks to the thermostat when she's "feeling a bit cold". Fitting the device was straightforward - IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great smart thermostat Google Nest is a great smart thermostat that supports opentherm switching if you are using in conjuction with a Combi boiler that supports opentherm. If you are using these to operate a system boiler (i.e Y-plan or S-plan), then it will just be a 240v switch with smart features. It is fairly common for the heatlink units to fail, and the little connections are quite fiddly as are the menus to navigate through the various options within the unit. But overall it does make for a very premium and clutter free installation. If it's the learning function and opentherm capability that you want out of this stat, then great! but if not then maybe look at a Hive option as they are easier to install and not quite so fiddly to operate. With a Combi boiler often now the manufacturers controls will be more efficient due to the manufacturers proprietry communication protocols, but do your research first as some are not all that great to use.

3 zones accessoroes

Will this work with a 3 zoned heating plant, 2 for heating zones for house and 1 for water. If yes, what is the complete list of items I need. I currently have 2 thermo stat dial in each zone but not the water, please advise

Nest thermostats are usually compatible with zoned systems that use multiple thermostats, including zoned systems with dampers. However, some zoned systems that require thermostat damper control aren’t compatible with Nest thermostats, while other zoned systems may need a C or common wire, or the Nest Power Connector, to be compatible. We also recommend using the Compatibility checker tool on our support page to verify if the wires of your heating and cooling system will be compatible with the Nest Thermostat.

We are getting 3 Zone heating system. Will we need 1 or 2 Nests?

Generally, each zone requires its own thermostat which means you would need 3 thermostats for your new heating system. Although each zone can be separately controlled, having a Nest thermostat for each zone and having all three connected in the Nest app can help you adjust and monitor the indoor temperature quite easily.
