Could it be used to attach shelves to metal studs over drywall?

I was looking for screws to attach shelves to my wall without needing to drill the holes first. Would this screw be correct for that sort of application? I'd like the screw to go through the drywall and into the metal stud. Thanks!

Would these work fitting a blind to a steel lintel ?

Asked by: Gizzaw
Hello Gizzaw, Unfortunately we cannot advise you what fixings you may need in your particular installation as there are too many factors that may play a part (i,e weight of blind etc). For the safest and most appropriate advise on which product would be best to use in your particular installation we suggest you consult with a qualified trades person. Thank you for using Q&A.

Hi I’ve been using a 3mm drill bit with these 3.5mm screws to go through larch cladding then steel joists...they seem well attached but ive seen online that i should be using a 2mm drill bit....will my 3mm hole be too big or will it be ok?

Asked by: sian2joseph
Hello sian2joseph These screws are intended to put Plasterboard onto wooden joists and are not really suitable for the job you're using them for. What I will say is that when you drill a pilot hole you're making space for the screw to enter the material while still being able to thread itself in to it. With a 3mm pilot hole for these screws you will only have .25mm of material holding the screw in place around it's circumference. Thank you for using Q&A (CW)
