Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, Basic Extractor Fan We had an ongoing damp problem in the bathroom as after a shower or bath, we would be left with a dripping ceiling and clouds of steam more akin to the smog of London in the 1950s or some sort of tropical jungle; all that was missing was the jungle noises or roar from some prehistoric beastie. Enough is enough exclaimed the ruler of the house and I was sent on my way to pick up an extractor fan. We had previously ordered one from the interweb but that one had some sort of aversion to the job it was intended for and after a few lethargic revolutions, it revolved no more (not that we could see it through the clouds of steam, it was more of a feeling). Although this fan, the Vent-Axia VASH100B, was much more expensive and is the basic model with no 'run-on' or humidity feature, it was simple to install and tie into bathroom light circuit. With baited breath I turned on the fuse and then the light switch and was not disappointed. While not quite taking one's breath away, it did indeed remove the steam from the room and after leaving the light on for a few minutes after one has finished in the bathroom, there does not appear to be any drips on the ceiling either. A win-win situation and we shall (hopefully) keep this successful arrangement into the distant future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's not "extremely quiet" I bought this fan because I wanted a quiet fan and the description said that it was "Extremely quiet". It has two settings. Low speed and high speed. Low speed, to be fair is, "Extremely quiet" but I wasn't convinced it was actually working so I removed the cover and could see the blades of the fan turning so slowly and then they actually stopped as the air in the room or my breath stopped them. In this setting the fan was not going to be effective at all. So I put it on the high speed setting and this is just as loud as any other fan. It would be useful to have a medium speed or be able to adjust the speed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Fan...But bare in mind. First of my situation was a simple one I had a fan that when running sounded like an old petrol lawn mower, So I wanted quiet. I read the reviews and specifications and decided on this unit. In Response to other fans in this ranges reviews. TERMINALS:First comment, yes the terminals are small, but its only on a 3amp supply. So cabling size is small generally. (1mm2) BACK DRAFT: The back draft is a thin plastic shield but in my tests appears to work adequately. NOISE: okay on slow speed this fan is from 1m to 2m away, is to my hearing living up to the advertising message. HOWEVER, on high speed the unit is audible about the same as a laptop fan I would say so at plus 3m acceptable and anything under that range you soon tune it out. (far quieter than most fans I've witnessed of this type). POWER: The power rating is also a little confusing, on slow (almost silent) speed the power consumption is around 3.2w but on the higher speed I would say around 5w to 7w a fan. (Not a problem for me as my old fan was a monstrous 12w.) LOOKS: The appearance of the unit soon blends into the normal wall furniture if like me the room used is a neutral near white. RELIABILITY: all I can say is my last fan was a Vent-Axia branded unit that had lasted some 10 years plus. This unit feels a little more flimsy so I would imagine 5/6 years lifespan. Overall, a Unit worth considering, I will for future projects.
