Poor quality
I recently purchased this decking kit and was bitterly disappointed with quality of the wood not only were there cracks running down the whole length of the corner supports but most of the top beams have quite visible cracks in the also some pieces were bent and have had to be replaced. The delivery was not the best either with the 2 guys refusing to put the numerous pieces in my garden stating that it was kerb side only, after some time they begrudgingly brought it to the rear but wouldn't bring it into my garden luckily a neighbour and a friend moved it to where it was needed.

Great decking kit.
This is a really nice decking kit. This was purchased and assembled last summer. It arrived when they said it would with a 2 man crew. The instructions were adequate and easy enough to follow. When the weather allowed I began the assembley of decking followed by the pergola and railings. It took me 2-3 days in all and it was a very enjoyable job to complete. When finished it looks really good and has made my back garden look more interesting. It's a fantastic sized area to entertain on with enough room for a table and 6 chairs as well as a table to put food on. This year I will be jet washing it and then treating it with a stain to freshen it up and to preserve the wood. Very pleased with this item and would definitely recommend it.

Looks fantastic
The last review for this product was 5 years ago so I imagine the specs have been altered since then. This product was delivered on time with very helpful driver / mate who helped carry the (very) numerous parts to the back garden. Instructions were clear and we set the decks up as two separate projects. The whole process took two of us two days. You WILL need a good electric screwdriver and I would suggest some extra screws as we tended to double up on a few of the joints. I would not like to sit these directly on grass, we had already prepared our ground (levelled, supporting concrete slabs and small pebbles for drainage) and this made it much easier to site the decking. I would imagine that siting directly on to grass would offer no protection for wood rot or drainage. The decking does come pre-treated but we have elected to further treat it all with a wax based decking protector and the finished project looks amazing. Couldn't give 5 stars for reliability as its only been up a week.

Not that happy.
We recently bought this product as our first bit of decking we are doing to our garden, the pictures looked great and the price was ok so we was looking forward to put it up but when we started we realised from the instructions that they tell you to use the decking planks that go on top to use as the decking joists aswell.
We have been advised since then not to use planks that thin as joists if you want your decking to last and we have now bought 2*6 timber to use as the joists instead. So long story short we dont advise this decking kit due to the insignificant joists provided and just wanted to warn furture buyers.

Hello, I was about to purchase one of these pergola kits but rhen read the reveiw from Reeko and decided that I need to be sure that the deck will be strong enou,gh for its intended use. The review su,ggests that té deck joists seem to be inadequate.
I am presuming that the joists would be somewhat substantial and so would not need to be replaced with 10x6 joists.
Any advice would be most welcome.

Over the past 3 years Forest has sold over 1,000 Deck Kits using the deck boards (28mm x 120mm or 1" x 4.75") as the joist. I have not any further comments since 2012 refering to this issue.

I need a similar deck module to this one, however the area is smaller than this one, can I combine the modules to create a deck of 4.2 x 2.1 metres.
he area in quuestion has a slight slope of approx 100mm over the 4..2 metres.
Ideally I would like to have a pergola and balustrades also.

The Deck Kit is adjustable by cutting the deckboards, joists, handrails to the required length as long as your are a reasonably competent DIY'er. In terms of the slope the deck does need to be laid on a level surface hence either you will have to dig out or raise the one end.

Can the pergola go either way right and or left hand

Yes, the pergola can be sited on the left or right of the deck.
