Rated 2 out of 5 by from not sticking well I had to repair a patch in my flat roof. I used this to seal the edges around the patch. IT was basically bringing from the old felt to the plywood. I had primed the whole area including the overlap but for some reason it didn't want to stick. I pressed it down fully for a few mins rolling hard with a seam roller then it just pulled off with little effort. I have re-stuck and will check it again but docent look good. I think I will over paint the whole area with a liquid rubber solution.

If i remove old flashband.can i use the same primer that now exists which is on brickwork

Asked by: abnormalmac
I would recommend that you remove the old primer and apply new primer before applying the new flashband for best practice.

How do you remove flashing tape?

Any tips on how to remove flashing tape? Been stuck on extremely tough
Asked by: KDL1
Well this depends on what surface the Flashband is on. If the product is on to concrete or something along those lines it is possible to sand it off or scrape it off, that will be hard work and it might not get all the product off. If the product is on something such as UPVC or something along those lines, you could use white spirit and a cloth and try to rub it off again this might not remove the product fully. If the product is on wood you could try white spirit again, but this might push the product into the wood more. You could also try sanding or scraping if the white spirit doesn't work in wood, but it might damage the wood underneath. Unfortunately I can't provide much more information, if you are having difficulties please feel free to get into contact with us.

Is primer essential - what primer?

Is primer essential for bonding to asbestos and wood. If so, which primer is that, please?
Asked by: NormalBlokeMWK
The 'Bostik Flashband Primer 500ml (57709)' is designed to be used on friable and porous surfaces such as wood, brick and concrete etc. However, for your application we would advise that the 'Bostik Flashband Primer 500ml (57709)' can be used on Wood and also an 'Asbestos reinforced material'. Please note that this product is not designed as an asbestos encapsulant and we would advise an asbestos removal company.

Lean to room

Can this be used as the main flashing for a lean to patio solid polycarbonate roof? The wall is pebble-dash and the roof is solid polycarbonate. If yes, does it require a 25mm chase on the wall?
Asked by: Martindevek
The Bostik Flashband is a self adhesive flashing strip with a resin modified bitumen on the underside and a grey lacquer finish on the topside. The product can be applied to polycarbonate and to render in general. However the surfaces need to be relatively flat and smooth and so it is not suitable to be applied to pebble dash as it is too rough and bumpy.
