Rated 4 out of 5 by from decktite stainless steel screw I used the Deck-tite stainless steel screws to secure Cederal composite cladding to a work shop I have constructed in my garden, I wanted something that was strong durable and long lasting, so I chose Deck-tite screws for this, as they are also colour coded to various material types they were just the thing to use as I had painted the cladding to compliment the gardens surroundings. once painted and secure with Dec-tite screws they blended in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor quality product Out of the first five screws that I tried, four of them snapped. Furious with the disgracefully poor quality of the material used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor equivalent to others I bought these as some spax screws I had ordered online from another retailer hadn't arrived on time. I want 60mm stainless steel with a small head. These sounded ok and the colour coating seemed like a good idea. The issues, To get them to drill themselves into hard wood required more force than expected. The end has no cutter, just a point. The paint finish is worst than useless. The bit just cracks it off. They really don't pull the board in like other brands. The bit supplied with mine was rubbish. Destroyed the heads. I went back to screwfix to buy some others bits. I asked them to check it against another pack of the same screws. Totally different bit. They must have changing them at some point and not done a 're call on the old stock. Wouldn't buy them again.

Do these screws require pilot holes when used on composite decking?

Asked by: GMDIY
Hi GMDIY, yes we recommend that the decking must be pre-drilled and countersunk. If you are screwing composite to composite, pre-drill 90-100% of the screw depth with a 3.5mm diameter pilot hole. Drive the screw flush and do not overdrive. If cam-out occurs, remove and replace. Use two screws at every joist. Hope this helps. Thanks, Tite-Range team.

I would like to use these on recycled plastic, what diameter of hole needs to be drilled in order to obtain a neat flush finish?

The decking I am fixing is manufactured by KEDEL... very strong and durable and made entirely of recycled plastic, it is not a composite board.
Asked by: REVDBL
Hi, if you try a 3.5mm hole first and see how you get on, that should be fine. Thanks

Does this screw require pilot holes and a countersink in timber decking?

Asked by: bbbbccccaaaa
Deck-Tite Composite Plus does not need a countersink and does not need pilot holes in softwood. However, if you are using this product in hard woods we would recommend pilot holes.
