Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stops bleed through white pain Did a great job of stopping the bleed from plywood through the white paint. Did 2 coats as had time, now got great white finish. Also painted over knots in wood and can no longer see the bleed. It recommends meths as a cleaner.....definitely use this as water or white spirit will not work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sealer Great product! Seals stains fast it’s a reversible coating so even if your brush goes hard leave in some methylated spirit and it will return fast dry just great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sealing varnished doors. Used this paint after seeing other reviews, very watery but goes on and covers well and drys very quickly, chemically strong smelling so keep well ventilated. Sealed dark varnished doors that were being painted white, two coats needed or an undercoat before topcoat applied, small sponge rollers don't like it as they go all soft and floppy.Would certainly recommend this product.

Primer for exterior mahogany door

Is this the correct primer for a currently bare wood exterior mahogany door? Is there any initial preparation for the wood you would recommend?
Asked by: Austin1

Is this primer suitable for painting old wardrobe w veneer?

Would this Shellac-based primer be suitable for such a surface and allow me to paint over it? And, if so is it recommended that I lightly sand the veneer before applying the primer to give it some "grip" ? Thanks!
Asked by: No8Wire
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. BIN primer/sealer is perfect for the project you are looking to undertake as this will provide great adhesion and excellent key. One or two coats of the primer should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of around 10m2/L/coat and with a re-coat time of 45 minutes, by itself or your choice of decorative top coat, oil or water based. There is no need to sand the veneer before applying your top coat although we do advise cleaning and degreasing the surface prior to applying the BIN to promote the best possible adhesion. Just using hot soapy water, rinsing with warm water then wiping over with methylated spirits will promote the best adhesion. I hope this helps.

Will BIN Shellac Based Primer/sealer be suitable to cover and seal interior oak veneer doors which have been sealed with Colron Danish Oil Natural. Then to be finished with a water based satinwood paint

I have heard that as it has been treated with Danish oil you cannot use a water based satinwood. The oil will seep through.
Asked by: Jeffers59
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. As the veneer has been treated with Danish Oil which is difficult to over-coat, our best recommendation for a primer/sealer would be Cover Stain (17114 & 17117). This will offer the best adhesion to the surface out of all our primers, while also holding back any staining from the veneer. One or two coats of the primer should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 2 hours. Once this has dried your choice of decorative top coat may be applied, oil or water based. We recommend cleaning and degreasing the surface before applying the primer to promote the best adhesion. I hope this helps.

Hi. I have a ensuite bathroom that the walls mould easily. I am about to re-decorate it. Would this paint help as a starting point? Thank you.

Asked by: Scatesy
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. Our recommendation for the project you are looking to undertake would be to use one or two coats of Bulls Eye 123 primer if there is no staining (10135 & 10136), or if there is staining apply two coats of Bulls Eye 123+ (652JG & 756JG). These may be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of 10m2/L/coat, re-coat 1 hour for Bulls Eye 123 and 2 hours for Bulls Eye 123+. Most importantly to try to prevent the regrowth of mould is to use a paint containing a biocide in the finished coating. Perma-White matt (1289G & 3939G) or satin (13040 & 62096) would be our recommendation as these are durable, cleanable, non-yellowing paints suitable for areas of humidity, such as your bathroom, and contain a biocide in the finished coating to help prevent mould for up to 5 years. Two coats should be applied in the same manner as the primer with a re-coat time of 2 hours. We recommend the bathroom is left for as long as possible before introducing humidity, but at least 24 hours. I hope this helps.

Will this prevent yellowing on exterior?

I’m painting the exterior of my house white but I’m getting yellow patches in some areas. Will this prevent this from happening?
Asked by: Iainsy
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. BIN is predominantly and interior product which should only be used on exterior projects for spot priming knots. Although it's not clear of the source of the yellow patches, applying the solvent based Cover Stain primer/sealer (17114 & 17117) will hold most stains back from bleeding through the decorative finish. One or two coats should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 2 hours. Once this has dried your choice of decorative top coat may be applied. We recommend the area is clean and sound before applying the primer coat. I hope this helps.
