Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. BIN primer/sealer is perfect for the project you are looking to undertake as this will provide great adhesion and excellent key. One or two coats of the primer should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of around 10m2/L/coat and with a re-coat time of 45 minutes, by itself or your choice of decorative top coat, oil or water based. There is no need to sand the veneer before applying your top coat although we do advise cleaning and degreasing the surface prior to applying the BIN to promote the best possible adhesion. Just using hot soapy water, rinsing with warm water then wiping over with methylated spirits will promote the best adhesion. I hope this helps.

As the veneer has been treated with Danish Oil which is difficult to over-coat, our best recommendation for a primer/sealer would be Cover Stain (17114 & 17117). This will offer the best adhesion to the surface out of all our primers, while also holding back any staining from the veneer. One or two coats of the primer should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 2 hours. Once this has dried your choice of decorative top coat may be applied, oil or water based. We recommend cleaning and degreasing the surface before applying the primer to promote the best adhesion. Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. Our recommendation for the project you are looking to undertake would be to use one or two coats of Bulls Eye 123 primer if there is no staining (10135 & 10136), or if there is staining apply two coats of Bulls Eye 123+ (652JG & 756JG). These may be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of 10m2/L/coat, re-coat 1 hour for Bulls Eye 123 and 2 hours for Bulls Eye 123+. Most importantly to try to prevent the regrowth of mould is to use a paint containing a biocide in the finished coating. Perma-White matt (1289G & 3939G) or satin (13040 & 62096) would be our recommendation as these are durable, cleanable, non-yellowing paints suitable for areas of humidity, such as your bathroom, and contain a biocide in the finished coating to help prevent mould for up to 5 years. Two coats should be applied in the same manner as the primer with a re-coat time of 2 hours. We recommend the bathroom is left for as long as possible before introducing humidity, but at least 24 hours. I hope this helps.

Although it's not clear of the source of the yellow patches, applying the solvent based Cover Stain primer/sealer (17114 & 17117) will hold most stains back from bleeding through the decorative finish. One or two coats should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 2 hours. Once this has dried your choice of decorative top coat may be applied. We recommend the area is clean and sound before applying the primer coat. I hope this helps.
