Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure about this so far Bought this because I had bought a very powerful Xpelair Kitchen fan (280m3 per hour) Which was actually cheaper, but as it needed a 6inch core drilling through the wall the electrician couldn’t fit it. I sped back to the local Screwfix in order to change it for a 4inch with humidistat (electrician advised a humidistat sensor would be the best solution for condensation in the kitchen). This was the only one in stock which fitted the bill. First impression is that it’s a bit flimsy for the money. Seems to work ok but haven’t seen the humidistat in action yet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Vent Axia Silhouette 100H There appears to be a design fault with this model. It will not detect humidity when the facia grill is attached to the fan. Remove the grill and fan kicks in. I have replaced this fan twice, each time believing it to be faulty, and, on each occasion the fault is the same. I am now on the third one. Humidity is not detected when facia is attached. I have run the shower until you can't see your hand in front of your face. Timer run-on is fine. But even on the most sensitive setting will not detect humidity with facia attached. Once the facia is removed it runs 24/7 until turned off. Previous fans with humidisats have worked fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality & unreliable I fitted one of these in a customer's bathroom. Eventually got it to start up by running a v.hot shower to fill the bathroom with condensation [it was already quite humid] and adjusting the humidity control. Very fiddly. A week later, a call back from the customer to say it had stopped working. Spoke to Vent Axia tech support and after [minimal] fault finding they just said fit a replacement. Fortunately I'd take the precaution of taking one with me :) Couple of hours spent which I won't get paid for. Vent Axia used to be a premium brand. This is flimsy, hard to adjust and the cover is a pain to fit unless the ceiling is perfectly level. Problem is that all the competitors seem to suffer the same problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Do not buy! Cheap quality product from a premium brand. Main complaint relates to the backdraft shutters which are sprung loaded in the closed position with flimsy bits of plastic film. These were bent when delivered and did not close the shutters at all. Vent Axia replaced them quickly but replacements were the same flimsy and cheap film that will not last long. This is ironic seeing as this is mean't to be an eco friendly low carbon product. The fan may not use much energy but the drafts it lets in to your property have the potential to waste tonnes of carbon over its lifetime. Rest of the product is made of very thin plastic that flexes at the slightest touch. Very flimsy compared to Manrose equivalent.

pull chord

does it have a pull chord on the fan to switch it on and off

Hello, no the Silhouette 100HT does not have a pullcord, the overrun timer is activated via the switch live.

The round bit that goes into the wall is it for a 4" hole please

Thank you for your question. The spigot of the fan which fits within the wall has a diameter of 99mm, however the recommended cut out (hole) through an external wall would be 117mm. This will allow additional space for a wall sleeve/kit and a small slope to outside to ensure any condensation runs out of the property rather than back into the fan.
