Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2.4Ghz wifi only I have a BT smart hub 2 at home and the wifi works on the 5Ghz range, which is the fastest. This camera ONLY works on 2.4Ghz wifi, and BT Smart hub 2 does not support having 2 wifi networks 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz simultaneously. I don't want to make my wifi slower as I need it for work, so this camera is no good for me. Also, another annoyance is that the camera appears to be a return, as the box looked like it had been opened before, and when I tried to register the camera to install on the TCP app , there was an error message saying it needed to be unbound from another account.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WCAPIRW1080P Smart Camera I bought one as a trial based on the reviews here. I was so impressed with the picture quality that I now have four of them dotted around various properties. They allow me to check in on activity in the viewable area. Switchable sensitivity levels and optional movement detection alerts to your phone are a great feature as they send a snapshot to your phone of the triggering movement. This function will work even without an SD card in the camera the sound quality isn't something I can review as I don't use it on my cameras. Setting up the app is incredibly simple with an Android phone, you will only need to know the user password of the WI-Fi hub you are using with the camera. This camera will detect movement through windows, although it will suffer reflections to some degree especially if in a sunny position. It may trigger movement if rain or snow is hitting the glass but that is to be expected. With adequate outside lighting it will also work at night through glass, however you will need to switch of the night vision function and the power on LED to reduce reflective glare, switching lights on or off in the room will trigger a detection as well, but if it becomes a nuisance you can switch the alerts off. With an SD card fitted the playback function works well, although I have had issues with the cameras sometimes failing to recognise a card for no apparent reason. In fairness this could be faulty cards as I have occasionally experienced the same problem with dash cams. I can view all cameras live simultaneously on a split screen option as well. I have experienced both internet and power failures, in both cases the cameras restarted automatically when power or signal was restored. Other reviewers have said that these cameras do not work with Virgin media hubs. This is incorrect, three of mine work on Virgin hubs. It clearly states in the instructions that these cameras do not work on the 5ghz frequency only 2.4ghz. The virgin hub you have may be dual band. 5ghz is a faster connection but shorter range and 2.4ghz is slower with a longer range. The hub could be running either or both speeds simultaneously. I found running both on one particular hub made the camera feed unstable but this was resolved by accessing the hub menu and switching off the 5ghz option. Overall you won't find a better camera for this price range. It may look cheap and cheerful but it absolutely delivers with picture quality, and the range of app controlled functions you can operate remotely is well thought out and useful. There are no subscription fees for a third party to hold or access your data, and the feed is encrypted for your security. In my opinion these little cameras are a bargain, they have a generous guarantee period as well.

More than 1 monitoring device?

I know you can have several cameras feeding to 1 monitor (phone / TV / pc etc). But can you link the camera to several devices at the same time such as 2 phones and a TV?

SD Card format issue, it always says 'we have to format' but never works. Tried everything to reset and different SD cards!

I had this same problem only with another brand of camera. I fixed it by formatting the card on a PC first, then formatting it again, in the camera.

can it be set to record automatically?

image is great and notifications to phone work well but not clear if this will record to its sd card without a command from the phone
