Rated 1 out of 5 by from It is NOT an Extension Cable I have had numerous phone calls and email exchanges with Swann Technical support who deny that this is an extension cable. They recommend NOT joining 2 cables together and running one single cable from your DVR to the camera. They also fail to understand that with the power supply that they provide with their kits that there is voltage drop which in my case means that I lose connection to my camera on the extension cable making it utterly useless as a security camera.

Can I bury the wire externally to run from the house to a garden room please?

I have the swans 2k series 1080p camera set. One cable I need longer can i just add another cable to it or run a new longer one. Also what is the difference between the blue or mauve connection plug. Or is the blue ok for this modle

Hi Telmo, It is recommended that you run a single length, but not required. Blue connectors are sufficient for the 2K series.

I want to shorten the video cable, and have found some BNC plugs which say they are suitable for RG58, RG59, will these fit this cable.

Hi Tel, Terminating coaxial cable is tougher than it looks. We'd recommend just rolling up the excess rather than modifying the cable.

What size hole would be needed to fit cable and connectors attached through the wall?

What size hole in mm would be needed to dill to fit the cable and the attached connectors through an exterior wall?

Hi Dazza, The outer ring of the BNC connector is the largest component at 14mm diameter. You'll obviously need your hole a little larger than that. Depending on the thickness of the material you're going through, you may be able to push through one connector at a time to minimise the hole size. If not, the power connector adds another 9.5mm diameter to the equation. Again, those are measurements of the connectors themselves, the hole will need to be a little larger depending on the location and your dexterity.
