Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and simple Easy click and collect from Screwfix. Once we figured out which water taps we needed to turn off taking out the old pump and installing the new one was a doddle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good for 12 months Worked fine for just over 12 months performance was fine but then motor kept running all the time. I would assume this is a sticking flow switch, returning it to Screwfix tomorrow who should replace it as it’s guaranteed for 3 years. Hopefully no quibbles as they are usually good with faulty returns

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet, ideal gravity booster Quiet running. Good, soft feet to reduce vibration. Decent hoses with isolators. Used to boost shower with just 1m gravity head - perfect pump as you get decent flow without exhausting the storage tank. Note that there is no plug fitted.

Can this pump be fitted when a combi boiler is in use rather than from a gravity fed tank

Asked by: JOCk33

Permanently fed

Do these pumps need to be permanently fed or do you need them on a switch to switch them on when in use only?
Asked by: James132
Hi James132, The Showermate Eco Standard requires a permanent connection to a 240Vac power source. Being a 'Standard' pump type (or as some call them, a 'Positive Head Pump'), a built in flow switch activates when the shower is turned on, starting the pump and keeping it running until the shower is turned off. The flow out of the shower head, due to gravity alone (not pumped), must be at least 1 litre per minute in order for the flow switch to activate reliably. If the gravity flow (not pumped) from the shower head is less than 1 litre per minute then a 'Universal' or 'Negative Head' pump type should be used. If you don't have a flow gauge or flow cup, a simple cooking jug can be used to measure the flow (e.g. 1 litre per minute = 500ml in 30 seconds)

Does this pump come complete with four anti vibration couplers, please?

Can this pump increase the water pressure to a shower , basin toilet (which is not off the mains ) The cold water tank is located in the airing cupboard above the h/w cylinder

Can the pump be wired off on a spur from the cylinder switch
Asked by: mikeppp
The Showermate eco is specified for use with a single shower only. To boost the whole bathroom opt for the Showermate Standard S1.8 bar Twin. This also assumes that there is already an 'un-pumped' flow out of the shower head of at least 1 litre per minute due to the gravity flow from the tank alone. The 'Standard' Showermate senses this flow and switches on automatically when the shower or one of the other appliances is turned on. If flow from the tank, through the shower, is less than 1 litre per minute, you should opt for a Showermate Universal U1.8 bar Twin. A 'Universal' (sometimes called 'Negative Head') pump does not require a flow due to gravity to switch on. Rather, it senses the pressure drop which occurs when the shower is switched on. Although a little more expensive due to their extra complexity, Universal pumps are a safe bet, especially if its a new shower installation and the amount of flow restriction caused by the proposed shower head is not known. To avoid electrical spikes generated by the cylinder switching disrupting the pump operation, we would always recommend a dedicated fused spur from the ring main.
