What a shame.
Attended Screwfixlive, visited the Redring stand and purchased the Reditap. We loved our Reditap, just what we needed. The element went open circuit during guarantee, so a new set was sent. All worked OK until the guarantee ran out, the new element went open circuit, now we have been told there are no spares available. We now have two sets of expensive junk. Avoid at all costs!!

Poor fittings
I found when installing this that the drain valve was of poor quality. Tap itself was nice and easy to install. Just the tubes and drain valve were poor. The open tundish on the valve allows water to spit out! Was also made off cheap plastic. Plus only has push on tubes for boiling water from unit to drain valve. Not convinced this will last.

Good overall but a few vices
Very straightforward to install. Boiler is adjustable so you can choose a temperature lower than 100C if you desire. Filter is optional and not included which is an advantage if you already have a filter (other brands I saw have a filter built in so it's not possible to use without). The boiler can be drained and de-scaled which is a massive advantage over competitors. There is a vent that needs to be installed above the boiler and the sink trap which can be tricky with a butler sink for example. I recommend you check the installation instructions before you buy one.
Hot water flow is a bit slow. Boiler capacity is a bit small. The water temperature goes down as you drain it so not all 1 1/2 litres will be boiling. On the other hand it re-boils very quickly. It's a bit noisy - sounds exactly the same as a kettle boiling. In practice I've found if you leave it and don't take any boiling water it has to re-boil every 1 1/4 hours - so a bit like boiling the kettle 19 times. I recommend using a timer to turn it off overnight and when you're out. Not experienced any water taste issues described by other reviewers.
Overall very happy with it. But don't be under any illusion it will supply endless boiling water and/or save you money because it won't. Big families will need a larger boiler.

Great device, awful taste wate
The tap is a great idea, it was easy to install and provides instant hot water.
We saw similar (more expensive) ones at the Ideal Home Show, they are a great idea.
However that is where the praise stops... we have issues with ours, these are as follows:
The water boiler itself is noisy when it boils water. We have it installed in a kitchen cupboard under the sink, the kitchen is open plan to the rest of the house and it can be heard elsewhere in our house when it is on.
I'd been told that these water heaters can be more efficient that boiling the kettle, I'm not so sure, the boiling unit is reheating the water every hour or so, so we now have something boiling water 24 times a day rather than a kettle being used say 6 times a day.
The water tastes awful when it is dispensed, whether this is because of the materials used in the unit or whether it is because the water is being boiled repetitively I do not know. I've raised this issue with the manufacturer who have just pointed me to the Thames Water website which says tainted water tastes can be down to a number of things including chlorine etc. What's odd here though is that if cold water is drawn from the cold tap it tastes fine, it's only once the water has been drawn through the water heater and associated pipes. What is interesting/odd in this design is that the water heater has an overflow/waste outlet which then drops back into the household waste water pipework system - this for some reason is through a funnel/pipe with a hole in it, therefore meaning that my waste water feed which eventually ends up in the sewer is open (via a 10mm hole) in the kitchen.
I've had a case open with the manufacturer for some time now and this issue has not yet been resolved.

Running cost of this hot water tap please.
Asked by: Devonian21
Is this like a kettle that's always on? How does it maintain the water at boiling point for dispensing? I am concerned that this is a high running cost appliance or am I wrong?
Asked by: PJTaggy
For immediate boiling water does that mean it is continually boiling water 24hrs a day?
Asked by: Coragirl
Yes it does, but I've installed a 7 day a week time switch that turns it on at 6.30am weekdays, off at 8.30am and then back on for the evening. Weekends it's on from about 8am to 7pm so it's now only running for abuot 50% of the day.
It doesn't reboil too often as it seems really well insulated.

Capacity
Your advert states the capacity is 1.5l yet the video states 2.0l can you please clarify?
Asked by: KMAM
The tank capacity is 2.0L, however 1.5L refers to the amount of boiling water available to deliver from full.
