Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can now cut a straight line I've admitted defeat, that I can't cut boards down in straight lines with my circular saw, jigsaw, or a hand saw. Even fixing an edge to but against the OSB was pulling me offline. Finally - by many months - I decided that I needed a better option and this was it. The cost of the Festool and two guide rails is similar, and the lip that the Festool has to hold the saw better when undercutting would be preferable than having to hold the base, it was the extra power and the carry bag which decided me. From the very first cut I've realised how stupid I'd been. It's an investment, true, but a very sensible and effective one. The only improvement I'd make, maybe, is to have an 800mm rail alongside the 1600mm, rather than both being the longer version, as this would enable rail use in tighter corners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for. I have been using this saw for several months now and it is simply faultless in my opinion. It has better dust collection and a better Blade changing system than the Festool TS55R Which I used for several years previously, the improved dust collection is due largely to the saw not having the large whole in the side of the blade guard that the festool has. This saw is equipped with a scoring function that is actives by simply pushing a very conveniently placed switch next to the handle. This function is absent on the festool. the mafell tracks are very sturdy with a much more substantial rubber edge along the cut line and much easier to join together. I use the standard blade to cut sheet goods and laminated kitchen panels As well as laminate worktops the saw has never struggled with any of these tasks and with with a ripping blade i easily cut 40mm oak worktops in 1 pass. Don’t be fooled by the lack of a riving knife the electronics cut out and the blade brake activates in a fraction of a second the moment kickback starts that’s if you can get the saw to kick back I’ve not actually had any kickback but have seen a video and it’s impressive. The TS55R I used even with a riving knife has jumped out and cut into the tracks before this is rare but has happened. Overall If you spend the little bit extra and get this instead of the festool you get a more capable better thought out saw with better safety features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Decided to go for this after looking at the Makita and the Festool as this was the most powerful and had a few extra features. I Had used the Festool before and knew it was really good but did find it slightly underpowered. Also the rails were quite awkward on the Festool where as this system is quick and easy. After using this for a month i cant recommend it enough. Its really powerful but still gives a perfect cut each time. And the switch which moves the blade 0.1mm to do a pre cut on laminated boards has been so useful for fitting kitchens. Definitely worth the extra money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top bit of kit Yes expensive but I can gaurentee that when you put this saw on the track and make a cut you will forget the price tag! (After a lot of research screw fix are the cheapest for these saws at the moment) I put this off for ages then after watching you tube videos and reading reviews for a month or so I went for it.. And I don't regret it.. I'm a general builder and I've used this almost everyday since having it, cuts are dead accurate, the guide rail just sits on the work piece and stays in place without the need for clamps, doesn't come with a dust bag but my Titan chop saw bag fits it perfect and believe me it collects almost all the dust. I look forward to using it.. Knocked up a window frame on site in no time with it then went on to making an mdf book case in the afternoon. The finish on the cut is perfect no tear out or chips. Saves a lot of time. Mafell blades are pricy but other blades fit and work fine giving the same tear free finish. Look forward to using it more and more.. Slightly addicted to this at the moment!! Rails join quickly and are dead straight for cutting down 8x4 sheets! To make square cuts on site I just butt the guide rail against a 12" roofing square that does the job!
