Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Since leaving school (many yrs ago) I’ve hardly ever used one. I don’t normally have the need to plane wood and if I have I have always used an electric one but can never get a good finish like the manual style. I’m reconverted now. Very pleased with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Plane Great smoothing plane. Had it for 2 years now and still works amazingly (watch videos on set up and sharpening). Cuts great and robust body. Would buy another.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Irwin Plane Handles Hmm. Having had my old Stanley plane nicked I bought this as a replacement. It has many faults. 1/ The handles are awful cheap plastic with rough edges 2/ The base plate is far from smooth ( I'm wondering if to emery cloth it or just chuck it ) 2/ The machining is iffy. I will only give it points for value ( 3 stars ) . Its cheap and cheerful but not a tool you will love I'm afraid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bench Joiner Student I bought this plane only last week as the planes in the college workshop are always blunt or if you change the blade it always seems to miraculously disappear out of your bench, so thought I'd buy my own and apart from the fact I'll need my own tools once I qualify with my diploma. As soon as I used it I could not only see the difference but also feel the difference - it was so smooth to work with, easy to manoeuvre, sturdy in construction with a good perfectly sharpened blade. It had a good quality sole plate as well as easy to control/adjust when in use. It was well worth the money and my next port of call will be the Irwin Block Plane, which I do think is possibly over priced but we'll see as the quality is surely there and leads to great workmanship and precision and you do always pay more the smaller the item. If I had to find something negative (which is hard at present), there was a little nick on the inside of were the blade lies/protrudes, but it hasn't inhibited the performance as yet. I'll comment more at a later stage and see if it is still top quality and working well.
