Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice taps but low flow rate Just fitted a pair of the Alto basin pillar taps. They look smart but flow is rate too low. Nothing of much relevance in the accompanying instructions - other than a disk identified on the parts list drawing (no key) annotated '... 4l/min ..' . Ideal Standard Customer Support confirmed this to be a removable flow restrictor which could be easily removed. Using a stout bent paperclip, I removed the pink disk with 'O' ring seal from the underside of each tap. Refiited taps and now flow rate is good. Would have saved a lot of time if a bit more info in the instructions!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looking for a sturday tap? Let me start by saying if you're going to read the reviews for the specific tap you're after, make sure the model and picture matches the review you want to read (the tap I wanted wasn't too bad, but the reviews are misleading because it's all jumbled up). So I purchased the Ideal Standard Alto Basin Mixer, it's a sturdy tap and I needed something to replace the old tap which has disintegrated due to the hardwater around my area (lasted about 3 years). Putting it together was straight forward and there was only one fixing screw instead of two like my old unit. Probably best to do it with 2 people as holding the tap in place and trying to thread the bolt was challenging in my small basin, and buying the monobloc spanner set (also from screwfix) was a must, as it made tightening the whole thing quite simple. I used the old linking pipes from the old unit as the connecting bolts from the Ideal unit didn't match up and the old pipes were in ok condition. It does what is says on the the box and apparently there's a 5 year warranty, hopefully it'll last longer but I'm not holding my breath. In summary I like the design, it's quality feel and simple assembly, only things to worry about, is to check the connecting bolts to the copper pipes will fit before hand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not work on 2m gravity feed Very disappointed to have to remove these taps as they looked really good. Installed them a few months ago but the flow rate was awful. Just attempted to take them apart as another review suggested there was a flow restrictor. There was no mention of this in the accompanying instructions and I did not find one anywhere to such the extent that I tried removing the normal type of flow restrictor but failed. So now replaced with a pair of cheaper swirl taps from Screwfix which don't look as good, but they work! Now got enough water to brush my teeth!!! Also note, despite the "brass construction the handles are plastic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incorrect description Blurb on the website states that this is the Top Fix tap from Ideal Standard, which can be fitted from above the basin. In reality it's a standard tap that needs to be fitted from below. Not what i was after, as the tap was to replace one in an awkward vanity unit.

direction of turn

do they turn in opposite directions (as most 1/4 turn taps do) or both in the same direction (as "normal" taps do) ?
