Rated 5 out of 5 by from Utterly Brilliant Now I'm not someone who usually writes reviews. But this auger is exceptional. It's designed to be an easy way to drill a post hole, say 50-60 cm deep. But I wanted something deeper. Much deeper! Now this is not recommended and certainly invalidates the warranty, but it does show how well designed and strongly made this tool is. Two M6 bolts and the handle comes off. Slot in a 2m extension bar and then replace the handle. Et voila! A 3m garden drill. Worked perfectly and at the end of the job, with the paint hardly scratched, pop the handle on again and it's back to the intended purpose. This tool will never wear out, you can hand it down to your grandchildren. Utterly brilliant . . .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extra feature not documented Besides all the advantages other reviewers have already mentioned, it is possible to drill holes by taking off the handle (2 bolts) sliding in a 1/2 inch drive extension with a tommy bar hole and secure with one of the bolts. Now you can fit a ratchet lever and drill away next to a fence without catching on it - I had to replace posts that had rotted, so drilled new holes without dismantling. It's even possible to drive the borer with a more powerful drill equipped with a low rev gear setting. That works on peat, heavy loam and clay though small roots may snag it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Neat and tidy The click and collect services offered throughout lockdown has been fantastic. Lots of careful consideration for customers and staff, with well laid out stores. This Auger is much bigger than expected. Larger handle, and far stronger than anticipated too. Which is perfect as I needed it for some serious action. My garden is horrible thick clay, littered with rocks. Digging anything in my garden is a nightmare, and not something I enjoy. So when my wife demanded a pergola, I dreaded digging the post foundations. But this gadget made that a whole lot easier. With a small screw at the bottom, you can easily and accurately place your hole. Turning the wide, thick handle bar then spins the massive, sharp cutting blades which digs the whole thing down into the ground. I had to take the hole is sections, bringing up small plugs of ground each time. But a garden with better soil would not have to do that so often. The measurement guide along the shaft was a real help, allowing me to accurately gauge how deep the hole had been drilled. The best thing is that it cuts a very neat circular hole, so the foundations are compact and easy to hide around the base of the uprights. I'll now be using this every time I need to plant anything in the garden, or for the inevitable demands that will be made by my wife at a later stage. A great tool for the shed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderful bought this to bore fence post holes. absolutely delighted with it. as usual with fiskars gear it is strong and sturdy. have since used it for bulb planting.it is a must have for anyones shed.
