Rated 3 out of 5 by from I don't get it ! I think the corefix product is wonderful. I bless the day I discovered them. What I don't get is the "AIR" version. The plug is identical apart from the colour, if there's a difference in the hardness of the plastic I can't make it out. And if it's worth having a variant specially for aerated concrete, why isn't there an "AIR +30" version, too ? I note that the original manufacturer now has a deal whereby these are supplied under another (more established) brand name. I note that under the other brand the one version is recommended for "all types of brick and blockwork". So why these blue ones ? Anyone know ?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Be careful Some are very brittle and they are not substantial. The far end is joined together in the mold - The first one was when I open the pack. Some took well, but you can easily split the end and break it off when pushing it home. A little expensive for the quality of plastic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid fixings Used 5 of these to put a bracket and 42” TV on a plaster board wall, dot and dabbed to lightweight blocks. Easy to tap and screw in, just be mindful that they require a hole circa 950-100mm deep depending on what’s being installed. My drill bit was ‘just’ long enough. Once up though, they are solid!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy a longer drill bit idiot Great fixings, easy to use. Bent the plastic piece when tapping it into the wall first time round as I had forgot the length of my drill bit was just about long enough but when used in hammer mode it comes up short - which meant hole depth was about 10mm short. Good job I had order a 150mm long 'new ' drill bit when getting these fixings.

The specification says 10mm diameter, is that for the sleeve and plug? If so what is the diameter of the actual screw as I need it to pass through a hole in my handrail brackets? Thanks

I asked Metex (the maker): Is the fixing suitable to go through tile to plasterboard that is dot&dab to thermalite to hang a wall hung vanity unit and sink?

The answer is: "I can confirm that from the outside of the tile to the face of the blockwork it would need to be a max of 45mm. If this is the case then the fixing will be suitable. "
