Can I bypass or remove the polyphosphate filter cartridge?

Can I bypass or remove the polyphosphate filter cartridge so it can feed drinking water? Do I simply remove the cartridge?

The polyphosphate cartridge doses the water with food grade polyphosphate. This is perfectly safe for human consumption. However those with a sensitive palate may detect a slight taste in the water, In this case we recommend that the cartridge is not used for treating water for drinking or cooking purposes.

Carbon cartridge

If I swapped out the filters for the carbon filters. Will this remove the chlorine in my water?.

If referring to item 11608 - HIGH CAPACITY CARBON WATER FILTER CARTRIDGE then yes, this cartridge is compatible and does remove chlorine from the water.

How long do the filters last?

How often do these filters need to be replaced and what is the cost of them? Would this also help soften limescale that has already built up?

We recommend these filters to be changed; every 3-6 months for the sediment filter (69860) and every 12 months for the polyphosphate filter (88345). This system will not help with already built up limescale. Prices for these can be found by searching the respective codes.

Does the carbon filter also remove lead?

I was wondering whether this filter can also remove lead? Also, does it remove 10 microns and above sediments as it says in the description or 5 microns and above as it says in the manual?

Thank you for contacting BWT UK Ltd. The filter is not designed for Lead removal. I does appear that there is a mistake in the description, the cartridge is 5 micron rated. We will get the description changed, thank you for letting us know.
