Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job I bought this to put in the Kicthen and downstairs bathroom where the signal is not that good, easy to install had trouble connecting it gave up after 20 mins phone the helpline they had sorted me out within 8 mins looks good and works perfectly now I can use my phone while on the shutter without worry about losing connection. Buying one for upstairs in white which is cheaper.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Good Socket is nice and easy to fit and looks good but as for extending my WI-FI, it never made any difference what so ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top quality product that works I bought this extender to try and improve the signal in our newly built Orangery without really much hope of it being very successful but worth a try, after all, if it didn’t work I could always take it back. What a revalation! We were absolutely amazed a) How easy it was to set up and b) How easy it was to pair two iPhones that worked immediately and signal strength is far superior to the ugly Extender our broadband provider gave us when our lounge signal was poor. We’re getting full strength signal in the previous dead spots and in the lounge, in fact it is far quicker on the internet than we have had for a couple of years. This is a great product, if you need a boost to your WiFi, don’t go cheap, spend a bit more and be completely satisfied, can’t recommend it highly enough.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from brilliant IF it worked can only place it where you get at least half the reception which is fair enough BUT what they don't tell you is that feedback causes it to fail, will will have to reset your router to lower the firewall, place their device on the white list and lower the treat settings to minimum which means you'll have to call the service provider to set it all up again, allow for say 4 hours and a ton of swearing. As you might have guessed i wish i hadn't bothered as it still does't work

Will It Work With A Metal Back Box

I want to fit one of these in my kitchen to improve my Wi-Fi in the garden. It would be mounted facing the garden with the router a couple of rooms behind it. If I mounted this extender in a metal back box would the metal block the signal from the router
Asked by: EnglishMon
Hi EnglishMom, The steel knock-out box will partially obscure the aerials on the faceplate, they do sit high enough that some portion of them will be above the box. The only way you will know for definite if this is enough in your case, however, will be to try connecting it and see if it remains stable or drops the connection repeatedly.

Just checking how this works

Is this positioned somewhere with wifi signal and it repeats the signal, giving you better connection somewhere else further away? A neat solution would be one with the router plugged in and another in a dead spot using the power lines.
Asked by: Hamslice
Hi Hamslice, Yes, this is a transponder which receives the signal, processes it to add power, then re-transmits it to a greater range. The benefit of this system is that it isn't throttled by moving between power rings.

Colour of inserts

According to this web-site SKU 626FG has graphite inserts but the packet states that the inserts are grey. Which colour are they? I am waiting for matching switched sockets to come into stock!
Asked by: SeasideKOS
Hi SeasideKOS, Graphite is a shade of grey, and BG only uses one grey colour for inserts across our ranges so they will match no problem.

Does the USB socket use electricity while there is nothing plugged into it? Thanks.

Asked by: Denvoak
Hi Denvoak, When there is nothing being charged the USB transformer circuit drops to a low-power stand-by mode which draws less than 75mW (or <0.000075 kW/h chargeable consumption), which is far lower than any plug-in type charger that we are aware of.

Can you please send me the instructions for this as my electrician has thrown them away

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi PhilSutton, There is a beginner's guide downloadable on the BG Electrical website, but there have been two generations of the extender and the guide is based on the original generation so there still may be some slight differences. If you continue to have problems with this please contact us directly at:-
