Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice, Cheap, but class AC Bought it to test rather than install, as there are various parts of the spec missing in the listing, it gives that it is a B-type (overload curve) but not what sort of RCD it is. Anyway, once you have it it's clear to see that its a class AC, which is fairly old style now, I would usually fit class A as this has the ability to still operate when there is some DC present on the line - which is most home systems now due to computers and other electronic equipment. So it's cheap compared to others, but most professionals would by fitting class A as a minimum these days

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BG mini RCBO. Great replacement for the original rcbo’s which were longer and harder to fit in a packed consumer unit. These smaller compact units are also easier to connect to as the terminals are side by side and very accessible. The old ones had the neutral terminal at the back and it was harder to locate once fitted. Easy to fit and use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good price, but let down.. Good for retrofit in BG boards, particularly with the mini form factor. However, the slot/pozi heads defy the use of a slot/pozi or even a pozi driver - cam outs damage the heads way before reaching the specified torque. Several I've fitted have pull the terminals into the casing before reaching torque and pinned the cable between the two halves of the breaker's plastic clamshell. Also, only available as type AC. Type A becoming more important now with inverter drives beginning to become more common.

I purchased a BG SKU4276x RCBO from another branch of Screwfix about 2 months ago. I want to buy some more but have noticed that the test button is near the top of the unit on your website diagram whereas mine is right at the bottom. Are they the same?

Asked by: hawklord
Hi hawklord, The location of the test button has moved each time we have updated the RCBOs internally, but they have remained functionally the same and so every generation is equally applicable to use (and equally safe).

What is the earth connection?

Does this unit rely on the connection to the (earthed) din-rail for its earth connection, or is there a way to connect a separate earth wire to the unit?
Asked by: Knoby
Hi Knoby, RCBOs don't require an Earth connection to function correctly, in fact they have a tendency to cause nuisance tripping when there _is_ one, so BG Compact RCBOs do not have any provision for an Earth.
