Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice bit of kit....but Read all the reviews on this product before purchasing. Several customers have made recommendations regarding reducing from 3/4" down to 15mm. The comments made by Kiri from Herfordshire....'On the outlet I fitted a 3/4" to 15mm male coupler (part no. 82086) into the head, using PTFE tape'. THIS DOES NOT WORK! You can only get less than 1/2 turn using that fitting into the threads on this filter, nowhere near enough to make any kind of seal. I got around the reduction by using both the supplied nipples, one side of which is tapered, as are both the inlets. (3/4" NPT). The other is a standard 3/4" thread which will screw into a 3/4" compression female to 15mm tap connector, which I could only source from elswhere. 15mm flexi hose to the inlet side, did the outlet the same. As another customer has commented, this should come with fittings to get you down to 15mm. Bit of a fiddle to get it connected up, but what a difference in the water quality! 31 Jan 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Water Filter.. Great item, easy to fit and works well. I had spent weeks chasing around trying to find a suitable product which I could use to replace an existing filter which had been damaged in moving. It took just one visit to Screwfix to get everything I needed. 4 Nov 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent function and price Bought these as we have a old steel water main and often had brown water. Used with the sedement filter rather than the supplied carbon for our use. Cured the brown water and catches a surprising amount of stuff even off a mains supply. our plumber fitted two in parallel on 22mm incoming copper to reduce any pressure loss. Don't forget a tap each side and a drain tap to make filter changes easy and less wet! Like others, used the plastic NSP male to male supplied with, and then brass BSP female with ptfe to connect. All fine, no leaks. Brilliant product, good value for money. 12 Sep 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent filter I have had one of these for 10 years. Only change when needed, so only twice! Good to know filters are still on sale. 30 Aug 2015

Answer:
No. This is a carbon based filter which reduces sediment, bad taste/chlorine, organic chemicals and pesticides.
The High Performance Water Filter Kit (product code 37975) may be a more suitable choice as this reduces sediment, bad taste/chlorine, lead, cysts (down to 1 micron) and pesticides.

I m looking to reduce the hardness of my water.

What is the best method? This filter with a polyphosphate filter 88345 as the primary, then another with the carbon filter?

Will the water be save to use with the polyphosphate?

Is there any point in adding a sediment filter before the polyphosphate?

What other options is there?

Thanks

Answer:
The BWT one stage whole house treatment scale reduction system (20315) will stop lime scale build up around your house.
When this product is installed you should leave a single drinking tap untreated for your local water authorities sampling purposes and for drinking/cooking, this tap can have the BWT High capacity water filter (18747) fitted to reduce the taste and odour in the water.

A previous question was answered stating that the cartridge is “NSF Approved”, but I can find no trace of approval on the NSF org website, except BWT Water & More GmbH in Austria, so has this filter actually been tested and approved by NSF? If it has, why is it not listed?

Answer:
The pressure drop through the BWT High Capacity water filter is approximately 3 psi when it is first installed. The differential pressure will increase the longer the cartridge is in service.
The pressure drop is dependant on the quality of the incoming water supply and may rise to a maximum of 28psi at which stage the cartridge becomes blocked.

I'm looking for a filter to eliminate chlorine taste in water (very noticeable in tea). Will the carbon filter do this?

Answer:
Dear Niss,

Thank you for your recent email regarding the unpleasant taste of chlorine in your water. In most cases a good carbon filter will certainly help to remove bad tastes and odour leaving water that is more pleasant to drink.

Note: This type of filter should only be used on a water supply that has been approved for human consumption

Kind regards Ian Fraser
