Rated 5 out of 5 by Zinsser cover stain Covers all sorts. Will take a range of top coats. Dries quickly. First choice for anything tricky. 21 Aug 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by stain sealer It appears to do what it says on the tin, so I can't complain about it. 17 Aug 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Old School Performance Performs the way paint is supposed to. Solvent based (aeration inside a good idea) this paint performs really well and is worth the money paid. A little on the thick side so care when brushing required. Have primed exterior wooden facias, doors, melamine furniture boards, destroyed stains on water damaged plasterboard/artex. Bit hard on the brushes, disposables recommended. 17 Aug 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Does the job Was a little sceptical but this did the job! Very thick to paint with, but i suppose you could thin it down a little if needed. 15 Jul 2016

Answer:
Sorry, the Zinsser primers are not recommended for use on floors so would not be suitable for your project. We suggest you contact your floor paint manufacturer to see if they have any advice regarding applying their product over a floor varnish.

Summerhouse

I want to cover water stains and paint the inside of my unpainted wooden summer house. The leak has been eradicated. The stains need to be covered in something I can emulsion over.

Answer:
Zinsser Coverstain would be good for this application, it will block the water stain and seal the bare wood ready for painting with an emulsion. If the water stain is severe the Zinsser B-I-N Primer (29661) would be a better recommendation, also if you have any knots to block the B-I-N Primer is the only product in our range suitable for this. Zinsser B-I-N primer can also be over coated with an emulsion.

I have painted a brick chimney breast white (2 coats of acrylic primer/undercoat and 2 coats of white emulsion so far) however after each coat the paint starts to go yellow very quickly (within 30 mins). Will this product stop the staining?

Answer:
The staining is most likely due to soot, our best recommendations to block this are to use the Zinsser B-I-N Shellac
Based Primer (29661) , This can then be over coated after a minimum of 45 mins with your white emulsion. It is best to paint the whole area up to a natural break, rather than just the stains, otherwise you may see ghosting of the primer through your decorative finish.
