Titan TTB290SDR 3" Belt Sander 230V
This sander does not allow sanding up to the edge. Leaves at least one centimetre if not more, at its side so you can not sand up to edge of skirting boards etc. obviously the side where the motors does not allow you to get to the edge but the other side should. The front roller is slightly shorter than the edge of the main body, so moving the sanding sheet outwards at the side of the unit means it gets fouled up or torn. Also at the front the plastic covering is large and covers up most of the front so you cant not use it facing forwards to try and get to the edge. This is one of the drawbacks from buying from a catalogue type format of shopping in that you can not pick up the products and handle it to look at it properly. Had I know this shortcoming I would not have purchased it,
I have used a supermarket own brand which was almost half the price and it did not have any of these poor design features meaning that price is not the factor to have a better design. However that one only lasted a couple of days before becoming faulty. This one I have used only for a few hours yet so can not comment on its reliability.
Subsequently I looked at the local 'Sheds' and they had much higher priced units with the same shortcomings - only when you get the some of the professional ones does the designs start to get better although not all.
So long as your not expecting to sand to the edge of something this unit should be fine, but for me it was an unfortunate purchase.

Bought this sander on the strength of current reviews. I got about twenty hours work out of it over a six week period and it packed up, bearings I think, leaving me with half the job done. Very disappointed.

Very good value
Bought to sand down a very large deck area.
Used with 40 grit belts at number 3 speed and was very pleased with the performance. The motor is powerful enough and you can feel it try to pull you along.
A word of CAUTION if like me and this is the 1st time in using a belt sander- keep a careful eye on the lead as it will eat the cable as I found out to my dismay (operator error)
The Wire inside the dust bag worked lose which I overcome by re drilling the hole it sits in and then glued.Do not like me use it without as this went the same way as the cable lol !!
Apart from these issues I would recomend this tool- Excellent tool at a small price

My first belt sander, bought to clean up some garden furniture and I have to say not a bad bit of kit.
I realised before buying that this was not a high end unit and some of the quality of the casing leaves a bit to be desired nevertheless it seems robust enough.
Belt replacement and alignment is a doddle and their easily enough power for it to disappear of the far end of the table I was sanding before I got used to it.
reliability should be fine for my occasional use not sure about use in professional applications, but then for the cost it would be easily replaced.
