Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product " Surprisingly easy to apply. I used a roller and obtained a good solid smooth coat. I was very impressed with the final result. Good and solid in a few hours and proved to be an excellent base for emulsion. The only warning on this is that the stated coverage is somewhat optimistic. I used 2.5 litres to cover a 5m wall. That's about 5m² per litre, not the stated 7m². Certainly did the trick though and was well worth the expense. No sign of any marking to date ( now four years later ). This is an excellent, easy to use product. "

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Was'nt at all sure but...... So far so good for rectifying damp/mould in cupboards and wall, all due I believe through lack of ventilation by tenants never opening a window. Although this paint is pricey its better to pay more for something that works instead of something which is cheap and doesn't last . Its not the easiest paint to apply, but a decent brush is needed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Damp patch all sorted Damp patch appeared on wallpaper due to external leak. Needed to redecorate in a hurry but couldn't get a builder to sort the leak in time, so bought a tin of Thompson's One Coat Damp Paint. next day – patch sealed nicely and able to redecorate straight away. Brilliant product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant with a roller Thompson's advised not using a roller with their One Coat Damp Seal as it was difficult to clean afterwards, though,I didn't mind throwing the roller sleeve in the bin if it cut down on painting time. I can report that this Damp Seal worked well using a roller, completely covering a magnolia colour with just one coat.(It may take 2 coats if covering a darker shade). My advice is to buy a roller which comes with spare sleeves and it will save a good deal of time. The One Coat Damp Seal?, Brilliant !!!

Can you plaster on top or before

Asked by: Mgron
Thanks for your question. We would not recommend plastering on top of the Damp Seal, it is feasible to apply the product to new plaster but as the product acts as a damp stain blocker rather than a way to cure damp there would be little point in applying the product to new plaster.

Can I use this directly on new bare plaster or have to prime it first?

Asked by: DaveTich
Thanks for your question. Normally we would not advise the use of this product on new plaster. It is a product designed to block damp stains once the source of damp has been cured and therefore we wouldn't envisage new plaster would have stains that need blocking.

I get damp patches/mould on a wall which I believe is caused by condensation. Will this stop the mould developing? Thanks

Thank you for your enquiry. This product will not address your issue of mould, Thompson's One Coat Damp Seal is designed to cover residual stains caused by mould/damp issues that have been addressed and resolved.

got damp spots tried plastering but still has come through can i put damp seal on top

Asked by: bucko92
Thanks for your question. If the source of the damp has been eradicated and it is now just the stains coming through then Damp Seal will stop these spoiling any subsequent decoration. If the source of damp is still present Damp Seal won't solve the problem.

Is 38361 damp seal ok for rising damp

Asked by: wijem
Thanks for your question, no Thompson's Damp Seal would not be a suitable treatment for rising damp, it is a product designed to stop damp stains spoiling subsequent decoration once the damp problem has been resolved.
