Rated 1 out of 5 by from Third time UN-lucky! So i had to return this 2 days ago as the 'universal mounting bracket' couldn't hold the weight of the unit - I lined it up to where i wanted it, let go and as i walked towards the line to check with a level it was creeping downwards! It seemed to work fine sat on a solid surface. Changed it - the self level didn't work, it was stuck in its 'locked' position in every switch position. Changed it again, third time lucky the guy said, and i've just gone to use it and it is very hit and miss. One minute its 'wobbling' around (which it should do as finds its level) the next it's not. It seems to get stuck on itself. Third time UN-lucky I say!! Very unreliable, I will now be returning this and getting a refund. Not trying another one! Just to note also, the 'universal mounting bracket' was the same on all 3 units - so a very poor design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stanley Cubix Self-Levelling L Over the years I have always prided myself on having 20/20 vision well as age creeps up on us for many our eyesight starts to deteriorate, (well in my case it has) This small gadget really helped me out on its first job and has subsequently paid for itself. So for what it costs it will save you time and mistakes go on buy one

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly built clamp The level itself works fine both horizontal and vertical lines. Was a great tool until the clamp failed. 1 month outside guarantee! The pivot arm knob houses a nut but not the knob on the main clamp, that's just plastic! I only ever tighten to stop it slipping or rotating, upon trying to undo it shredded the plastic knob, had to remove clamp by using pliers directly to the bolt, now won't operate. Will have to McGyver the thing now to bring it back in use with resin or something. Useless for jobs requiring horizontal lines at various heights until then (unless I buy an 8ft tripod or I drill holes in the opposite wall for screw mounts in bracket). Shame I couldn't attach a photo. Go with a better quality manufacturer, should've gone for the bosch green even tho it's diy grade. Stanley tools are becoming a rarity in my arsenal. Besides tools boxes and hand planes there's not a lot I can recommend, stopped buying their tape measures too as there's better for the money.

Does this come with some sort of box or bag to keep it in?

so innacurate. any way of resetting it?

my cubix is way off. having used a proper level & drawn a verticle line 1m long my cubix is 1 inch off at the bottom (touching line at the top, 1 inch off at the bottom). does anyone know if its resettable or just bin it :-(

Unfortunately there isn't a way for end users to "re-set" the laser level. It could be that the pendulum has become misalligned - which can happen if the unit is knocked when the pendulum isn't locked. How long ago was the unit purchased? We can look into a potential unit replacement if still within the warranty period.

Hi, Can this level be used for floor tiling.

Has anybody used this tool outside?

I'm building a pond in my garden. It will be approx. 6m x 4m and I need to make sure the edges are level. Is this tool suitable for the job? If so, it would be much easier than using a spirit level.

Hi Roger, although the distance is within the working range, we do class this an internal laser, so the viability outside would not be as good. You could look to use it in low light and dry conditions. However we would recommend looking at either the SCL or Multi Line lasers on that can be used outside with a detector. Thanks, Stanley.
