Rated 4 out of 5 by 5 x price at half strength Bought 4 x 5Ls of this but realised afterwards that I could have got 1 x 1L which would make 25L at cost of one 5L can. Also other product is twice the strength at 0.2% permethrin opposed to 0.1% on this. Can not tell on performance as just applied. 23 Feb 2016

Answer:
The data sheet does NOT state what the insecticide is, so the "answer" provided by Sika does not answer the question which was asked by Cityroverselect.

Furthermore, the data sheet gives an "emergency telephone number" - which is only available during office hours! Useless for most DIY people - they use the stuff in evenings and weekends!

I have read the reviews which all sound good, but how does anyone know whether the stuff has actually worked? As far as I can ascertain the grub inside th wood could lie there dormant for years. Any pointers would be appreciated, thanks.

Answer:
The active ingredient in this product is well proven at killing woodworm but it is possible that the insect could live in the timbers (Particularly large cross section timbers) for a number of years before coming into contact with the active ingredient.
Previously infested timbers will have exit holes and treatment fluid will obviously go down these giving deeper penetration.
However, eventually the insect will emerge and pass through the “treated zone”, whereby it will come in contact with the active ingredient and is killed. Should any survive this and lay eggs, the larvae will be killed as they will be in contact with treated timber.
Once the life cycle is broken, then there will be no future infestation and it is generally considered that this will happen before the insect does too much damage.
