Can this be used to stop plaster cracking above radiators also can it be sanded down?

Asked by: Hasey81
Hello Hasey81, We cannot really comment on its use for this specific purpose as it is not what it's designed for. We cannot advise on the insulation properties of the fire cement as it may just transmit the heat through the cement and into the plaster causing damage. However we can confirm that the item can be sanded down and also painted Thank you for using Q and A, EC.

Hi duncsthechemist, Unfortunately we would be unable to recommend using fire cement for building a brick pizza oven. Thank you for using Q&A. JBT.

Is the fire cement suitable for underneath the ash pan?

Some cracks have appeared underneath the ash pan i.e. bottom of fireplace and I'd like to seal them so would be grateful to learn if this product is suitable for that. Highly unlikely a domestic fire is going to reach 1250oC!
