Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makita cordless - the dogs.... It was with abstract horror that I watched my beloved Makita handheld fall ( it seemed to take minutes ) from the roof where I was working. Never mind my dog who was lying fairly close, it was my outstanding cordless for which I pined as it lay motionless and forlorn on the concrete below. Gingerly I cradled it and pulled the trigger. It sputted and died. Using the one minute click and collect ( it didn't need to be less than a minute ) I'd bought its replacement - exactly the same kit, exactly the same excellent powerful performance. I'm delighted with it and if stupid enough to drop it from such a height again, will go get another. Thanks Screwfix.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good at the start, BUT ! So I've had 2 of these drills in the space of a year, and the same problem always occur, it slipping 1st gear. I use the drill very frequently as I'm an electrician and it works well for the first 3 months of use and then it just fails in gear. I know a lot of people on site with these makita drills and they all have the same problem after a couple of months of use. I'd probably recommend this drill for those who don't use the drill on a daily basis

I have a Makita DHP453SY which appears to be discontinued.

If I buy this drill will the batteries work with my old charger?

is there any way to tell which batteries will work with which chargers in general?

Answer:
The 4.0 and 5.0 ah 18v Li-ion batteries will work with your 18v machine if it has a star on the connector plate, a yellow connector plate with a star or has a yellow connector plate. Please see attached link for chargers http://www.makitauk.com/accessories/batteries/chargers.html

I had the twin pack 18v combo and impact driver and didn't realise until after it wasn't compatible with the LXT range that's all.

Many thanks

hello Tiggy71.
Our range of Makita chargers are generally supplied with UK specification plugs unless stated otherwise in the product content. At time of writing we do not currently range a Makita charger with a 110V plug.
