Expansion Vessel 12Ltr
nitrogen filled (not air)
my old unit that was directly attached to the hot water tank ruptured the (replaceable) bladder due to the cylinder having a pinhole in the metal and losing pressure. Thank heavens for screwfix click and collect at 6pm!
This item does not have a replacable bladder - the threaded part is an integral part of the cylinder (hopefully easy to remove from the tank when the time comes).
It is filled with nitrogen (inert) not air, and only to a precharge of 1.5 bar (not 3). The instructions say to increase if needed from a nitrogen cylinder (not got one so its left at 1.5bar). Also the label says max pressure is 6bar, not the 3 stated. If this was not an emergency I would have shopped around for a unit that can have the bladder replaced. I've no idea if nitrogen will actually prolong the life of this one. obviously to soon to grade performance and reliability

Handy bit of kit
Expansion vessel diaphram ruptured in my central heating boiler. The replacement part was approx £50 + vat. Not a bad price, but the boiler has to come off the wall and stripped down to fit it.
This handy bit of kit just takes a Tee piece and flexi hose pipe to fit on the return to the boiler, 2 hour job max.
