can this be used on rubber

Asked by: sunnyside
Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive will bond most rubbers except EPDM. It is likely that you will not be able to determine the type of the rubber. If so, I would suggest the following as a test: Lightly abrade the surface of the rubber and remove the resultant dust. Scrape firmly, a very thin coat onto the rubber. Five minutes later apply adhesive to *both* surfaces leave to become touch dry and firmly press together. Check the bond a few hours later. If satisfactory repeat for the real job.

will it stick metal to rigid plastic

Asked by: liver
The Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive is a solvent based contact adhesive that can be used for bonding many different materials including wood, fabric, leather, metal and most rubbers and plastics. In general the strength of the bond will be dictated by the bond area against the load applied and also, the type of surfaces being bonded. Consequently for different plastics and metals the bond strength will vary, however in general, for most applications a good bond will be achieved but there are some plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene as well as vinyl for which the product is not recommended and some metals such as Brass, Silver and Stainless Steel which are known as 'low energy' metals for which it is difficult to get a serviceable bond with any adhesive.

Can this be used on vinyl edging for worktops?

I have been advised it will melt vinyl
Asked by: Anonymous
The Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive is a solvent based polychloroprene contact adhesive that can be used for bonding materials such as metal and wood as well as most plastics and rubbers. However, as with many adhesives on the market, the product is not recommended for use with vinyl as there will be a chemical reaction known as Plasticiser Migration which occurs after a few weeks and involves the plasticiser in each material liquefying and running into each other. As such you will need an adhesive that specifically mentions that it can be used with vinyl for your application.

Will this stick rubber to metal and what is the cure time at room temperature?

Can this be shipped to North America?
Asked by: Punchright
The Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive is a solvent based contact adhesive that can bond most metals and rubbers with a good bond although there are certain metals that are more difficult to get a serviceable bond such as stainless steel and brass. Also it will not bond EPDM rubber and their are customised specialist rubbers where the product has not been tested. The product is a contact adhesive which means that it needs to be applied to both surfaces, then the solvent be allowed to evaporate for 5 - 10 minutes ( although this can sometimes be longer depending on application thickness and temperature ), then the two surfaces are brought together and an instant bond is then achieved. The product can be shipped to North America as long as the correct paperwork and packaging is used.

Is it water proof

Asked by: Darchy
Thank you for your enquiry relating to our product. I can confirm that our Evostik Impact Adhesive is not waterproof and therefore if used externally the bond line must be protected. If you are looking for a waterproof adhesive you may consider the use of an MS Polymer such as Evostik Sticks Like or Evostik 007 also sold through Screwfix. I hope this information helps.

Will this glue stick leather onto plastic trim on car armrest?

I need to stick leather onto armrest which like vynyl type cover . Also needs to give me enough time align to fit right over the armrest before glue sets. Thanks
Asked by: Yunii
Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately I have to advise that we would not recommend this type of adhesive on to vinyl type surfaces due to the risk of solvent attacking the vinyl. Impact Adhesive also does not allow time for repositioning the bond as the bond is instant. I would suggest you consider an alternative adhesive for this particular application.

will this stick delabole slate to concrete hearth?

Asked by: Maddydiyer
The Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive is a solvent based polychloroprene contact adhesive which can be used for bonding many different materials including metal, wood, leather and most plastics and rubbers, However the product is not specified for bonding to concrete and it has a maximum in service temperature resistance of 65 ° C. Consequently the product is not suitable for your application.
