Plumbing, hey ? Who hasn't started a plumbing job at weekend and then found out that someting goes wrong or they haven't got enough equipment. What starts out as routine then becomes an emergency. Screwfix to the rescue. Local Branch in Cheadle near Wilmslow carries this pair of good quality, simple, chrome-plated valves in stock at a price that I like and better still the Branch is open most of the day on Saturday and Sunday. Good to know I can get everything I need for plumbing, when I need it most. Well done Screwfix.

There's plenty to say about these valves. They are cheap, cheerful but leave more expensive chrome valves, such as those made by Altech way behind in terms of quality. I have had to replace all, yes all 16 of my Altech valves because they either jammed shut or worse still, leaked after only 4 years. I started fitting radiator valves from Screwfix about 18 months ago and not 1 one has jammed shut or leaked. In addition, again unlike Altech valves which cost about £22 per pair, these do not leak when first fitted. I always use 10 turns of PTFE tape and with these valves I have not had to go back to tighten or refit a single valve. I thoroughly recommend them and are excellent quality so don't be fooled by the price!

Looks great all in chrome, price is fine, problem is one of the nuts didn't fit.
I don't trust them now.
Its a bit late to run out and change it once your at a job and halfway through it.
If you buy it make sure you have some spare nuts in the van just in case.
