How loud is this bell?
I have mild hearing loss but am not 'hard of hearing'. I don't want an uncomfortably loud bell, but equally sometimes don't hear my current one, which has a low-tone chime. Do you have a decibel reading for example, to give an indication? And pitch? Thnx.
Hello JosiePosie, thank you for your enquiry. This item can offer 90db with strong, good quality batteries. There's no volume control, so to dampen the sound you can tighten the screw which holds the bell in place. When it is ringing it is a metal rod that strikes against the sides of the metal casing, if that helps at all with identifying if it is the right type of sound for you.

Is this product suitable replacement for under dome ringer?
Bought to replace underdome ringer. So even if I put batteries in this it would be unsuitable because an underdome has a transformer somewhere?
Hello gmailandjcrew. This model (Byron Wired Wall-Mounted Door Chime Kit product code 9124F) can only be powered by batteries. If you want an underdome bell that requires to be powered using a transformer please see product codes are 80888 (black) and 14337 (brass).

Confused here, wired without need for batteries or wired and still require batteries.
I've taken the wired Underdome ringer off which worked but not loud enough. Connected this up and it doesn't work, the bell press activated the Underdone before I took it off. I assumed batteries were optional not a necessity?
Hello gmailandjcrew. This model is designed to work on batteries only. Please do not use a transformer with this product.
