Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy Bought for parents loosing hearing, they still had a slight problem with doors shut. Had to adjust bell and was disappointed that they were no cable clips. 24 Dec 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Old tech -Modern look Doorbells like these have been around as long as electricity. Simple electromagnet striker on a fixed bell. Hardwired bellpush. How hard can it be to install ? Not very. But there was a small glitch that might be enough to fox anyone not into 'fiddling'. My unit made an unsatisfactory buzz instead of a ring. Two reasons. The outer case was touching the bell, and the bell striker was not set correctly. I had to physically bend the bell central shaft to make it fit centrally to the housing. And then remove the bell altogether so that the striker plate could be bent into the correct place to vibrate enough to ring and not buzz. Trial and error system. It now rings loud and clear like Grandmas used to do. And without the extra hassle of wiring in a transformer. Whether visitors will now press the bellpush for a few seconds to let it ring that long is still to be discovered as these days a single push launches other doorbells into a protracted melody and they may not be used to this system that requires them to sustain the ring by holding the bellpush dowwn. Time will tell if I have to capitulate and get one of those instead. 24 Oct 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Byron Wired Wall-Mounted Door Bought to replace old one as batteries had started to leak (well out of date too). Because I wanted a straight forward and replacement bell, this fitted the bill. Can't go wrong with this one. 20 Jul 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Byron doorbell Purchased this item to replace a wireless doorbell which wss very heavy on battery use and unreliabe. Had a doorbell like this before many years ago and think that this is probably one of the best you can buy. Certainly very loud!! 13 Mar 2015

Bought to replace underdome ringer. So even if I put batteries in this it would be unsuitable because an underdome has a transformer somewhere?

I've taken the wired Underdome ringer off which worked but not loud enough. Connected this up and it doesn't work, the bell press activated the Underdone before I took it off. I assumed batteries were optional not a necessity?

Answer:
Yes, 2 x ringers can be operated from 1 x bell push. You can either (a) take bell wire from the bell push directly to each of the ringers or (b) wire one ringer from the other. With method (a) you can have 5m of bell wire to each ringer. With option (b) you can only use 5m of bell wire in total.

Is this a 'Bell' or an electronic chime. It is not clear from the description, looks like a bell but is described as a chime.

Answer:
This is a battery powered bell unit and although we call it a door chime, it makes a ringing bell sound.
