Bosch GKF600 ¼" 600W Palm Router 240V
I rate Bosch highly, but I have to say the mount on this is a little flimsy, so much so I routed over a solid knot it and jolted the trimmer distorting the mount, which I now cannot slide on and off without it jamming up. Probably my own fault being an amateur but I would expect better build and durability from Bosch. I'll likely upgrade to a plunge router in the future, which is a feature you greatly miss with this trimmer, though there is an adapter available.

Compact powerful router
Having used this router over the last 6 months it still amazes me in how versatile it is.
Whether its routing out for hinges on a door, or your trimming laminate off the edge of a worktop it cuts through these operations with ease.
Build quality is good and with micro adjustment for setting the height you can be sure to get your cutter set correctly.
The locking spindle does away with the need for 2 spanners so changing tooling is effortless.
The fence on the other hand isn't the best and care must be taken to ensure all wing nuts are tight otherwise it will move.
A welcome addition to this is the plunge base, where you can even use a guide bush to assist with template work.
If your looking for a compact, powerful and very versatile 1/4 chuck router look no further this has all jobs covered.

Bosch palm router+plunge base
I bought this with the plunge and I'm loving it. I keep try to find other jobs I can use it for!
With the plunge base its a really versatile tool that can be used on different jobs. With the standard base you can work in restricted areas and with the plunge base you get good stability with a controlled plunge action.
- Well made, solid to use
- good price for what you get
- Limited viability through the standard base when working at depth (I've seen other palm routers with poly-carbonate bases so you can always see where your cutting.
- The fine depth adjustment on the standard base works well but I'm concerned how it will stand the test of time as its a half thread in Aluminum with a steel screw running in it. The fine depth adjustment is dis-engaged by twisting the stand relative to the router body so the threads pull apart. This can mean that when twisted back together the threads can slip against each if not held in the correct position. so I can see the aluminium stripping in time if not used with TLC.
But over all, i'm very pleased with it.
